This past week has been a whirlwind of sparks and focused effort, culminating in a huge milestone: the successful welding of Nosey's bicep cages. If you've been following along, you know how crucial these components are for bringing realistic movement and strength to our animatronic friend. From the very beginning, planning the arm mechanics for Nosey was a puzzle. The bicep cages aren't just for show; they're the core structural elements that will house the motors, gears, and articulation points necessary for fluid arm movements. I spent a good amount of time meticulously designing these parts, making sure they would be robust enough to withstand continuous operation while remaining compact enough to fit within Nosey's overall aesthetic. Precision is absolutely key here – even a millimeter off can throw the entire synchronicity of the animatronic out of whack. When it came to the actual welding, I opted for a TIG welding process. It offers incredible control and produces clean, strong welds, which is exactly what I needed for these intricate components. Working with the metal, carefully fusing each joint, felt like sculpting.
