How I Lost 84 Pounds – The Power of Small Changes & Consistency

220➡️136

When I first started my weight loss journey, I didn’t have the time to go to the gym. Working three jobs left me exhausted, and fitting in workouts felt impossible. So, I focused on what I could control—my eating habits. I started by making small, sustainable changes: swapping out unhealthy snacks for better options, being mindful of portion sizes, and staying in a calorie deficit. I wasn’t perfect, but I stayed consistent.

As the weight started coming off, I eventually found time to add exercise. I began with just 30 minutes of cardio, then slowly introduced weightlifting. I didn’t rush the process or go all in overnight—I made gradual changes that I could stick with long-term.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency is everything. Progress can be slow, and at times, it feels like nothing is happening. That’s when most people give up. But the truth is, real change takes time. You have to trust the process and stay committed even when you don’t see immediate results.

If you’re trying to lose weight, here’s my advice:

✅ Start small. You don’t need a perfect plan—just better daily choices.

✅ Stay in a calorie deficit. Weight loss is about balance, not starvation.

✅ Move when you can. Even short workouts or daily walks make a difference.

✅ Be patient. The results you want won’t happen overnight, but they will happen.

✅ Stay consistent. Even on tough days, keep going.

✅ Try different “fun” ways to workout like pilates or cycling, anything to keep your body moving!

Losing 84 pounds wasn’t easy, but it was 100% worth it. If I can do it, so can you! Keep pushing forward—you’ve got this.

... Read moreStarting a weight loss journey, especially when you have a significant amount of weight to lose, can feel incredibly daunting. I remember looking at the scale and seeing numbers like 220 lbs, and honestly, the thought of losing 80+ pounds felt impossible. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the challenge, wondering where to even begin. Many people might search for quick fixes or dramatic transformations, but my experience taught me that sustainable change comes from a different place – consistency, patience, and truly understanding your body. My journey wasn't about drastic diets or hours in the gym from day one. It began with a simple yet powerful decision: to make small, manageable changes that I could stick with. For someone starting at a higher weight, intense workouts can be discouraging or even harmful. So, like many women starting around 220 lbs or even 240 lbs, I focused on what I could control first: my eating habits. Swapping sugary drinks for water, choosing smaller portions, and being mindful of my calorie intake became my daily mantra. I learned to navigate cravings and emotional eating by finding healthier alternatives that still felt satisfying. Seeing the scale start to move, even by just a few pounds, provided the motivation to keep going. I specifically remember hitting 198.0 on the scale, which felt like a huge non-scale victory, a sign that my efforts were paying off. As the weight gradually came off, I felt more energetic and confident to incorporate movement. I started with simple daily walks, slowly increasing the duration and intensity. Eventually, I felt ready to explore different forms of exercise. While some might be interested in specific routines like Lagree for a 'before and after in 3 months', I found success by trying various fun activities like cycling and even Pilates, as mentioned in the original article. The key was finding something I enjoyed and could consistently do, rather than forcing myself into a routine that felt like a chore. The images in my journey, showing my body before and after weight loss, truly capture the physical transformation, but the mental shift was just as profound. There were days when progress stalled, and the scale wouldn't budge. These plateaus are challenging, and it's easy to lose motivation. However, this is where consistency truly shines. Instead of giving up, I'd reflect on my habits, make minor adjustments, and remind myself of how far I'd come. Trusting the process, even when immediate results weren't visible, was crucial. My entire journey, losing over 80 pounds, wasn't a sprint; it was a marathon of small, deliberate steps. If you're a woman looking to transform your body, whether you're starting at 220 lbs, 240 lbs, or even 400 lbs, remember that every big journey begins with a single, consistent step. You have the power within you to achieve remarkable changes, just like I did.

You’re so right and I’m so proud of you! I’m skinny fat so it’s hard to lose these last couple pounds of fat :( I also keep going into a constant cycle of binging. This gave me motivation thanks so much!
