BUILT DIFFERENT (with a lot of delusion & a lot of time in bed)
Living with a chronic illness while maintaining an active lifestyle and a strong sense of self can feel like walking a tightrope. I often find myself embracing the phrase "Built Different," because my reality includes a lot of rest mixed with moments of empowerment. Being a "gym baddie" doesn’t necessarily mean pushing through intense workouts every day; sometimes it means honoring your body’s limits and celebrating every small victory. Dealing with chronic illness means redefining what strength looks like. It's not just about physical capability but also mental resilience and self-love. On some days, the battle is against invisible pain or fatigue that no one else can see, which makes having a positive identity so important. I find that embracing periods of rest is just as critical as moments of activity. The "delusion" mentioned is a humorous nod to the mindset needed to keep going despite setbacks. Inspiration comes from accepting all parts of our experiences—the highs and the lows. It’s empowering to acknowledge that being different is not a weakness but a unique form of strength. Celebrating how it feels to be a "baddie" while managing health challenges helps build a supportive community where others feel seen and motivated to keep pushing forward. Ultimately, self-expression, whether through style, fitness, or attitude, can be a powerful tool in coping and thriving with chronic illness. It's about owning your journey and inspiring others along the way.
