Getting my TWSBI Eco was such a milestone for me – especially since it was an early birthday gift from my amazing hubby! I’d been eyeing fountain pens for a while, and the TWSBI Eco kept popping up in recommendations for beginners and experienced users alike. Its clear demonstrator barrel really caught my eye, and I loved the idea of seeing the ink swirl inside. As someone whose original article was titled "First Fountain Pen," this TWSBI Eco truly feels like the perfect entry point into the hobby. From the moment I inked it up, I understood why everyone raves about its smooth writing. It glides across the paper effortlessly, making my journaling sessions so much more enjoyable. For anyone considering their first fountain pen, the TWSBI Eco is an absolute dream. It’s a piston filler, which might sound intimidating at first, but it’s surprisingly easy to use and holds a generous amount of ink – perfect for long writing sessions without constant refilling, especially if you get an early birthday gift like mine! Speaking of ink, choosing the right one can make a huge difference. I’ve been loving it with my Diamine ink; the colors are vibrant, and they flow beautifully through the pen. If you're new to fountain pens, I'd suggest starting with a well-behaved ink like Diamine or Waterman. When filling your TWSBI Eco, make sure to fully immerse the nib and feed in the ink bottle, then slowly twist the piston knob to draw up the ink. It’s quite satisfying to watch that clear barrel fill up! Caring for your TWSBI Eco is also straightforward. Regular cleaning (every few ink changes or when switching ink colors) will keep it writing perfectly. All you need is some clean water – simply flush it by drawing water up and expelling it until it runs clear. Platinum Meteor - it was $11 when I got mine but I believe US residents can get it for cheaper on Aliexpress. I think this uses the same mechanism as the Preppy, because the cap design prevents the ink from drying out, the nib is pretty smooth too! I recommend getting the F nib. Muji polycarbona
