Ubi hidden dim sum spot you NEED to try 😳
Somehow a coffeeshop in Ubi is serving some of the most creative dim sum we've had in a while 👀
It's just 5 minutes from Ubi MRT, with an air-conditioned corner — which, in this heat, is already a win before the food even arrives ☀️
What makes it stand out are the Nanyang twists on Cantonese classics. These aren't your usual dim sum dishes.
Here's what we tried 👇
🥟 Coconut Chicken Xiao Long Bao 椰子鸡小笼包 $5.80/3pcs Light coconut sweetness in the broth. Such a unique take on a classic.
🌿 Pandan Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns 班兰流沙包 $5.80/3pcs Smooth lava filling, satisfying salted egg flavour. Highly recommend.
🌯 Crispy Popiah Rice Rolls 脆皮薄饼肠粉 $6.80 Silky rice rolls with popiah skin for that extra crunch. Interesting combo.
🍤 Mentaiko Shrimp Dumplings 明太子虾饺 $6.80 Fresh prawns with a subtle mentaiko touch. Understated but really good.
🥭 Mango Yogurt Pomelo Sago 乳酪杨枝甘露 $4.80 Our favourite of the whole meal. Creamy, refreshing, topped with rose jelly — genuinely surprised us.
Prices start from $2.90 and the vibe is very low-key neighbourhood gem energy. Save this if you're ever exploring the East
If you’re exploring the vibrant food scene in the East, especially around Ubi, stumbling upon Richman Dim Sum feels like finding a treasure trove of culinary creativity. What really impressed me about this spot is how it reinvents traditional Cantonese dim sum with unique Nanyang twists, offering flavors that you won’t easily find elsewhere. The ambiance deserves a mention—the air-conditioned corner provides a pleasant respite from Singapore’s typical heat, making it an inviting place to enjoy a relaxed dim sum feast. Prices starting from just $2.90 make it an affordable indulgence that appeals to both casual diners and food enthusiasts. Among my favorites was the Coconut Chicken Xiao Long Bao, where the broth’s hint of coconut added a subtle sweetness, elevating the classic soup dumpling experience. The Pandan Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns also stood out with their silky, smooth salted egg lava filling infused with fragrant pandan, a delightful fusion of flavors. I also enjoyed the Crispy Popiah Rice Rolls, where the unexpected crunch from popiah skin paired wonderfully with the soft texture of the rice rolls. What’s especially refreshing is the dessert choice: Mango Yogurt Pomelo Sago topped with rose jelly. It was creamy, balanced, and offered a perfect sweet finish to the meal. The use of fresh ingredients like prawns in the Mentaiko Shrimp Dumplings underscores the quality you can expect here. The vibe is unpretentious, with that warm neighborhood gem energy that makes you want to return and explore more of their inventive dim sum offerings. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this spot near Ubi MRT is definitely worthy of your dim sum adventures, especially if you appreciate culinary twists on classic dishes.
