I LOVE:
Freediving has opened up a whole new perspective for me, especially when it comes to appreciating and capturing the natural beauty of sun creatures underwater. Unlike traditional scuba diving, freediving allows for a more intimate connection with marine life, as it involves holding one’s breath and moving silently through the water. This way, the creatures are less disturbed and often reveal their true colors and behaviors. Photography during freediving presents unique challenges and rewards. The light underwater changes continuously depending on the sun’s position, creating a mesmerizing play of colors and shadows. To capture the best shots, I always plan my dives around the sun's rays, which illuminate the ocean and highlight the vibrant patterns on fish, corals, and other sea creatures. One particularly memorable experience was encountering a school of sun creatures that shimmered brilliantly as they swam near the surface. Their scales acted like tiny mirrors reflecting sunlight, making them look ethereal and magical. Photography in such moments requires quick reflexes and a calm mind, as sudden movements can startle these creatures. For anyone interested in combining freediving with photography, investing in a good underwater camera or a waterproof housing for your device is essential. Also, practicing breath-hold techniques and getting comfortable in the water helps immensely. Most importantly, respecting marine life and preserving their habitat ensures we can continue to enjoy these natural wonders for generations. Sharing these experiences with fellow freediving enthusiasts through communities like #newtolemon8 also adds to the joy – exchanging tips and stories enriches the adventure. I highly recommend exploring this fascinating blend of freediving and nature photography to anyone passionate about the ocean and its incredible inhabitants.
