For general use or just for taste, a UMF rating of 5–10 suffices, but for therapeutic benefits such as improving gut health, wound healing, or bolstering the immune system, look for UMF 15+ or MGO 400+ products. These higher ratings indicate a stronger concentration of bioactive compounds that can deliver the promised health effects. Labels matter a lot as well—true Manuka honey must be certified, come from New Zealand, and have batch number traceability. Beware of honey labeled simply as "active" without UMF or MGO certification, cheap pricing that seems too good to be true, and blends claiming to be Manuka. Real Manuka tends to be darker, thicker, and richer in texture. In my personal health journey, using certified Manuka honey regularly has helped soothe digestive issues and support my immune health. The anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties make it an excellent natural remedy when facing minor infections or during cold seasons. Remember that quality and source matter greatly; real Manuka honey is more than a sweetener—it's a natural medicinal food with functional therapeutic benefits. Investing in certified, high-potency Manuka honey guarantees you’re getting these health effects and not just paying for sugar.
