i won’t gatekeep my hair secrets. 🚫🤫
at 51, these are the seven Ayurvedic-inspired rituals i follow to keep my hair healthy, thick, and vibrant:
✔️
1. weekly scalp oiling
i massage warm amla, bhringraj, castor, rosemary and/or coconut oil into my scalp to nourish the hair shaft, reduce breakage, and support circulation.
✔️
2. daily scalp stimulation-
even five minutes of gentle fingertip massage can increase blood flow to the follicles and relieve tension held in the scalp.
✔️
3. nourishing my hair from within-
hair is built, not merely styled. I prioritize protein, healthy fats, leafy greens, lentils, seeds, berries, and mineral-rich foods.
✔️
4. supporting my gut-
Ayurveda teaches that healthy tissues begin with strong agni, or digestion. if nutrients are not properly digested and absorbed, the hair may be one of the first places to show it.
✔️
5. checking the real root causes-
hair loss can be connected to thyroid dysfunction, hormonal changes, chronic stress, low ferritin, or deficiencies in vitamin D, B12, zinc, and protein. No serum can correct an internal imbalance.
✔️
6. protecting my strands-
i avoid/minimize excessive heat, harsh chemical processing, tight hairstyles, and aggressive brushing, especially when my hair is wet and most vulnerable.
✔️
7. managing stress and protecting sleep-
chronic cortisol can disrupt the hair-growth cycle. meditation, movement, breathwork, and restorative sleep are part of my beauty routine too.

Ayurveda views hair as a reflection of what is happening deep within the body. modern medicine agrees that nutrition, hormones, stress, inflammation, and overall health can influence hair growth.

the secret to beautiful hair is not one miracle product. it is consistency, from the scalp, the gut, and the soul.
