the moment I knew I hated being a freelancer

the moment i knew i had to change careers was when one of my main freelance clients suddenly went out of business. overnight, i lost a big chunk of my income—and the truth hit me hard: as much as i loved the flexibility of freelancing, it didn’t come with stability.

there’s something really unsettling about not knowing where your next paycheck is coming from or constantly juggling multiple contracts to make ends meet. after that layoff, i realized i was craving more than flexibility—I wanted security, structure, and long-term growth.

transitioning to corporate wasn’t about “giving up” my freelance life—it was about choosing something that felt more sustainable. steady paychecks, benefits, reliable hours, and a clear path forward? that’s what i needed at this point in my life.

if you’re feeling burnt out from the hustle or unsure about your next step, know that it’s okay to change direction. career pivots aren’t failures—they’re aligned decisions. and sometimes, choosing stability is the boldest move you can make.

save this if you’re thinking about making a switch too.

... Read moreThe freelance lifestyle can be appealing for its flexibility, but it often comes with uncertainty, especially regarding income security. Many freelancers experience fear when a major client unexpectedly withdraws, leading them to question their career choices. In these moments, it's crucial to imagine what you truly seek in your professional life. Some may desire variety and independence, while others yearn for the security that comes with a corporate job. A pivotal moment for many is recognizing the impact of financial instability. Unlike a consistent salary, freelance earnings can fluctuate drastically, causing anxiety about meeting financial obligations. Thus, transitioning to a traditional job can feel like a safety net—a chance to establish a clearer path with steady income and benefits. This leap is not equivalent to giving up on one’s dreams. Instead, it's a strategic approach towards personal and professional stability. For those feeling burnt out and considering a similar transition, remember that it's perfectly acceptable to switch paths. Embrace the change as a powerful step toward fulfilling your long-term career aspirations. Making the decision to prioritize stability can lead to greater satisfaction and success in your overall career journey.
