Hey guys! Please read to the end, I really need some advice. 🥺
I finally made it to my last semester of my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program! I’m so glad I survived this far, but now I’m facing my biggest hurdle yet: the ATI Exit Exam.
Here is the issue: our whole program was based on TIMBY textbooks and professor lectures. If you know, you know… those tests are completely different from ATI. We would do Practice A and B, take the proctored exam, and fail. Why? Because we were always too busy cramming for lecture exams to actually study ATI.
‼️
Now I’m at the end, and I feel like I know maybe 1% of ATI. I need a 66.8% to pass my exit exam, but I’ve been stuck scoring in the 50s and low 60s on my ATI NCLEX prep. It is so frustrating.
If anyone can just please or any tips or maybe u have the whole exam or know someone because I know it’s out there apparently I just need help! Because honestly this isn’t fair.
The school pushes so much ATI which I don’t understand why then are all our lectures are based on anything but ATI never time to study those ATI books…
Can anyone share how they studied for the PN NCLEX / Exit Exam? (Specifically for LPN/PN, not RN! 🙏)
... Read morePreparing for the ATI Exit Exam can be incredibly stressful, especially when much of the classroom instruction is focused on different materials like TIMBY textbooks, which may not align closely with the ATI format. From my own experience and conversations with fellow LPN students, the key to passing this exam lies in focused, targeted study methods that supplement your existing coursework.
First, give ATI materials priority even if your lectures don't focus on them directly. Setting aside dedicated daily time for ATI practice questions and review can dramatically improve your familiarity with the exam style and content. Many students find it helpful to create a study schedule specifically for ATI, including timed practice exams to build test-taking stamina.
Second, use multiple study resources. Beyond ATI books, online question banks, nursing apps, and video tutorials tailored for the PN NCLEX can provide diverse learning modes that enhance retention. Study groups or forums focused on LPN ATI prep can also offer support and share insights on tricky topics.
Third, review your weak areas carefully. Instead of blindly redoing practice tests, analyze missed questions to understand underlying concepts. Nursing is application-based, so mastering the 'why' behind procedures and clinical decisions is crucial.
Lastly, self-care is vital during this period. Sleep, nutrition, and short breaks will keep your mind sharp. The ATI Exit Exam is challenging, but by focusing on ATI-aligned content and consistent habits, many students transition from scoring in the 50s or 60s into a passing range.
Remember, you’re not alone. Many LPN students feel the frustration of misaligned coursework and test prep. Lean on your community, use varied resources, and approach the exam with a strategic plan. You’ve come this far—keep pushing forward!
