My Mascara Opinions (pt. 1)

These are a bunch of mascaras that I use and my thoughts <3

I don’t usually curl my lashes (my lash curler is shaped kinda weird so usually I get more eyelid than lashes 😂), and my lashes are long and slightly curled

Since I don’t typically use a lash curler—mainly because my curler shape doesn’t suit me and causes more eyelid contact than lash curling—I've focused on mascaras that perform well on naturally long and slightly curled lashes like mine. From my experience, a great mascara should lengthen lashes noticeably while also providing some volume without clumping or flaking throughout the day. One mascara I would give a 1000/10 rating for length and wear lasted all day without any flakes or smudges, which is a real game-changer for anyone dealing with oily eyelids or under-eye areas. It’s definitely a repurchase for me. Some mascaras offer a fantastic color payoff that instantly makes the lashes stand out with a rich, intense pigment. For example, a particular MAC mascara impressed me with its vibrant color and decent lengthening effect, although it could get a little clumpy if applying too many layers. But the color payoff truly redeems it. On the other hand, a few mascaras left my lashes looking a bit crusty or dry, which I didn't love. But there were others I absolutely wouldn’t skip, especially one that also helps refresh lashes throughout the day like a dry shampoo for lashes—a fascinating concept! This type not only adds volume but also helps maintain the lash curl I naturally have without needing a curler. It’s important to consider how each mascara formula suits your own lash type. For those with naturally straight lashes, curling might be necessary, but for others like me with slight natural curl, finding a mascara that complements the lashes without a curler is key. Also, mascaras that avoid flaking and smudging are essential for all-day wear and comfort. My advice? Try mascaras with a buildable formula to avoid clumps and always check reviews about longevity and flake resistance. Remember, finding the right mascara is about balancing length, volume, curl maintenance, and comfort for your individual lashes. Happy mascara hunting!
