I got back into reading about 2 years ago, I hadn’t picked up a book since 5th grade!
I quickly realized how much joy reading brought me, and how much more present in day to day life I felt when I took time to read and re-center!
Well…BOOKS ARE EXPENSIVE!
I quickly ran up a rather large bill, and started running out of space for my books.
So I bought a Kindle and I am absolutely in love!
📒But along the way…I learned a few things!
1. Target ALWAYS runs sales on books! (20% off or BOGO)
2. Everyone likes hardcover more….but paperback is cheaper. (I’m sorry to say it, but it’s the truth)
3. Your local library cards are usually free, libraries are close by and fun for kids too! Take some time to look up your local library.
4. Some libraries let you sign up and rent books online! I use the app “Libby” to rent books and send them directly to my kindle!
5. Goodwill/thrift stores sell books cheap and they are usually in good condition!
6. If you plan to read a lot and monthly subscriptions don’t scare you, look into Kindle Unlimited (if you like ebooks) & Audible (if you like audiobooks)
Hope this helps someone, because it’s definitely helped me!
... Read moreReading can be a costly endeavor, especially for avid book lovers. However, becoming a book girlie doesn't have to mean going broke! Exploring local libraries is one of the best ways to discover a wide array of titles without any cost. Many libraries now offer digital services like Libby, granting easy access to e-books and audiobooks directly on your e-reader or mobile device.
Additionally, shopping smart can greatly enhance your reading budget. Keep an eye on sales at popular retailers like Target which routinely offers promotions on books, including BOGO deals and discounts. If you're flexible with formats, purchasing paperback versions instead of hardcovers can save you a significant amount.
Another clever option is to scan your local thrift stores and Goodwill outlets for gently used books often priced at a fraction of the retail value. Those who enjoy digital reading may benefit from subscriptions such as Kindle Unlimited or Audible, providing access to extensive libraries for a reasonable monthly fee.
By employing these budget-friendly tips, you can cultivate your love for reading while keeping your expenses in check. Dive into the literary world without the financial stress!
