BLESS BOOKS OF LIFE

Reflecting on spiritual progress, I have found that constantly looking back can hinder growth and diminish the blessings ahead. The passage from Luke 9:62 reminds us, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God," which resonates deeply with my own experiences. There were times when I struggled with regret over past mistakes or found myself nostalgic for 'the good old days.' However, I now understand that looking back often brings unnecessary fear and anxiety, distracting from the faith and courage needed to move forward. Like the Israelites in Numbers 14 who doubted God's promise because they kept recalling their hardships, I learned that dwelling on the past can cause spiritual stagnation. To keep my focus on what lies ahead, I cultivate daily habits such as prayer, meditation on scripture, and engaging with a community of believers who encourage forward momentum. For example, meditating on Romans 8:28, which speaks of things working together for good for those called according to God’s purpose, helps me realign my goals and understand my talents' purpose. Additionally, I’ve realized that talent alone is not enough—commitment to a clear, Spirit-led purpose is vital. Sometimes we are gifted in many areas, but without spiritual direction, efforts become scattered and less effective. Focusing on God’s calling, rather than just abilities, has made my efforts more fulfilling and impactful. Sharing this journey with friends and family has also strengthened my resolve, reminding me that spiritual growth isn’t about perfection but progress. We can all benefit from setting our sights firmly forward, trusting that God’s plan is sure and He rewards those who persevere. In summary, keeping spiritual focus requires resisting the comfort of the past and embracing God’s unfolding purpose. When challenges arise, remembering that God is our refuge and that faith-led forward progress leads to blessing keeps me motivated to plow ahead without looking back.
