Protecting What God Planted

Peace is sacred—it’s one of the first fruits that grows when we allow God to work in us. But peace also needs protection. Not everyone or everything deserves access to the soil where God has been planting healing, clarity, and strength.

Protecting what God planted means setting boundaries around your heart and mind. It’s choosing not to let chaos uproot what prayer has been cultivating. It’s walking away from what drains your spirit and leaning into the stillness that God uses to restore you.

The peace He gives isn’t fragile—it’s fortified by His presence. Even when storms rise, His Spirit guards your heart like a gardener tending what He’s grown in you.

So today, honor your growth. Don’t apologize for protecting your peace. What God planted in you is meant to flourish—nurture it, guard it, and trust that He will bring the harvest in His time.

Reflection:

What boundaries or practices help you protect the peace God has planted in your life?

... Read moreAfter reflecting on how vital it is to protect what God has planted within us, I felt compelled to share some personal insights on how I actually put this into practice. It’s one thing to understand that peace needs safeguarding, but quite another to implement it daily, right? I’ve found that truly protecting my peace often involves navigating tricky situations and sometimes, even overcoming guilt. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is about setting emotional boundaries. For so long, I struggled to say 'no' or to distance myself from conversations that left me feeling drained or anxious. I used to think I had to be available for everyone, all the time. But I realized that constantly exposing myself to negativity was like letting weeds choke out the delicate lavender of peace God had planted in my soul. Now, if a conversation veers into gossip or excessive complaining, I gently redirect it or politely excuse myself. It’s not about being cold; it’s about recognizing that my inner garden—my spiritual well-being—needs protection to allow God’s beautiful flower of peace to truly blossom. Another crucial aspect for me has been managing time and energy boundaries. In our fast-paced world, it's easy to overcommit and spread yourself thin. I used to pack my schedule until I had no room left for quiet reflection or simply *being*. I've since learned to intentionally carve out 'sacred stillness' in my day. This could be 15 minutes of silent prayer, journaling my thoughts, or simply sitting with a cup of tea, allowing myself to feel God’s presence. These moments are like watering the green leaves of my spirit, ensuring they stay vibrant and strong. They’ve become non-negotiable for me, because I’ve experienced firsthand how neglecting them leads to burnout and a diminished sense of peace. Identifying 'peace drainers' has also been transformative. For me, sometimes it’s getting caught up in endless social media scrolls, comparing my journey to others, or even dwelling on past mistakes. When I notice that familiar feeling of anxiety creeping in, I pause and ask myself: 'Is this activity nourishing what God has planted, or is it trying to uproot it?' This simple question empowers me to make conscious choices – to step away from my phone, to practice gratitude, or to surrender those heavy thoughts to God through prayer. It’s an ongoing process of discernment and self-awareness. Ultimately, protecting my peace is an act of faith. It’s trusting that God’s plan for me includes flourishing, and that means creating an environment where His gifts can thrive. It’s about being a mindful gardener of my soul, tending to His precious plantings with care and intention. It’s not always perfect, but with every boundary set and every moment of stillness embraced, I feel myself growing deeper into the peaceful life He intended for me.

🌿 Growing What God Planted: Walking in the Fruits of the Spirit
There’s something so powerful about slowing down and really looking at the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). These aren’t just “good qualities” to try on when life is easy, this is the evidence of God actively working in us. Love that chooses others even when it’s inconvenient (John 15:12).

I’m still pretty new to gardening, but it’s been raining for the past two days. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the speed of growth, but I have never planted seeds and have them sprouted that quickly. 🫣 #gardening #patiogarden #beginnergardening #flowers #fairygarden
