It’s infuriating how casually we expect children who were brought to this country 30+ years ago to “figure it out” as adults. They were raised here. This country became their home before they even understood what borders or paperwork were. They learned how to survive, work, and contribute here because this is all they’ve ever known. And yet, somehow, we act shocked when they don’t magically know how to navigate an immigration system no one ever guided them through.

There was no early support. No roadmap. No adults explaining what would be required later in life. Just the expectation that one day they’d wake up and be legally perfect in a system designed to be confusing, unforgiving, and expensive. When mistakes happen—as they do, because they are human—we treat those mistakes as justification to banish them. One error, one misstep, and suddenly they’re told they don’t belong in the only country they’ve ever called home.

Sending someone “back” to a country they don’t know, don’t remember, and may not even speak the language of isn’t justice. It’s cruelty disguised as law and order. Especially when these individuals have spent decades contributing to our communities, working, paying taxes, raising families, and holding everything together quietly in the background. They didn’t take shortcuts—they were never given a path.

If we’re serious about fairness, we have to stop pretending this is about legality alone. It’s about responsibility. A system that raises children without support and then punishes them as adults for not knowing what they were never taught is broken. And pretending otherwise is just another way to avoid accountability. Here’s to 33 yrs Thirty-three plus years in this country is not temporary. It’s a lifetime. It’s proof of belonging, of roots grown deep, of a home built not by choice but by lived reality. At some point, time has to matter. Presence has to matter. Humanity has to matter. After 33+ years in America, this isn’t a question of “where you’re from.” This is where you’re from. Treating someone who has lived here for decades like they’re disposable is not enforcement—it’s erasure.

This is only to beginning of our journey as a family, but for people like my husband and many others this has been their journey for decades.

I stand behind these families and individuals to bring justice for their livelyhood and what is right. These people are not the people we target. Everything is not black and white. Stand together- your like, share and unity helps spread the word and keeps families together.

No more second guessing to trust a stranger or hiding behind a news channel with their agenda, we are that family you know! Make the change!

Follow us @Borderless Impaction as we go through this and hope to spread knowledge, encouragement, share stories of others and ours, advocating what is right.

... Read moreGrowing up in a country without clear guidance on immigration status can create lifelong challenges that are difficult to overcome. From personal experience and stories shared within immigrant communities, many children brought here at a young age have felt the added pressure of navigating a complex, often unforgiving system alone. The harsh reality is that these individuals often lack access to early legal education or mentorship about their rights and responsibilities, leaving them vulnerable to costly mistakes. I've witnessed close friends and family members endure daunting bureaucratic obstacles despite their deep ties to this country. They contribute to the economy, culture, and community in meaningful ways but live under constant fear that one error could threaten their ability to stay. What’s commonly overlooked is that many of these people are not merely immigrants—they are professionals, parents, neighbors, and friends who have lived their entire lives in the U.S. The immigration system’s complexity is a barrier even for those with resources, let alone for children growing up without effective support. Unfortunately, punishment often replaces assistance, reinforcing the idea that failure to comply with confusing laws means an absence of belonging or worthiness. This approach disregards the human element and the decades these individuals have invested in their communities. Therefore, it’s critical to advocate for systemic reforms that acknowledge time spent in the country as an important factor in determining immigration eligibility and rights. Proposals like providing more accessible legal resources, community mentorship programs, and clearer pathways to citizenship can prevent unnecessary hardship. In my own circles, supporting immigrants involves amplifying their voices, sharing accurate information, and standing united against policies that prioritize punishment over fairness and humanity. Building awareness is also essential to counteract misleading media narratives that can further marginalize these families. By focusing on compassion and responsibility, society can move toward a future where people are not judged solely on paperwork or an isolated mistake, but on the full story of their lives and contributions. It’s a personal journey for many, but one that requires collective effort and a commitment to justice.
