... Read moreManaging chores can feel daunting, especially with ADHD, but turning them into a game can truly transform how you approach daily tasks. I’ve found that breaking down chores into micro-steps makes a huge difference. For example, instead of just “wash the dishes,” I treat it like a quest: first gather the dishes, then rinse or scrape them, followed by washing or loading the dishwasher. Each completed step feels like earning XP in a game, providing a tangible sense of progress. One technique that helped me is framing bigger chores as 'boss battles,' like the "Dish Dragon Boss Battle" where defeating the dragon means completing all dish-related tasks. This makes finishing chores more engaging and less intimidating. Hatching little companions or rewards also adds extra motivation and fun—your brain gets positive reinforcement through small wins rather than feeling overwhelmed by the whole task at once. Using gamification not only helps maintain focus but also increases satisfaction when chores are completed. If you’re someone with ADHD or simply struggle with motivation, I highly recommend experimenting with this approach. It keeps your brain entertained while you stay productive, ultimately making chores less stressful and easier to tackle in your daily routine.
