Probably one of the hardest decisions of my life🥺💔

2024/12/19 Edited to

... Read more“Why can't I ever do anything right?” That's a question that echoes in my mind so often, especially after I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. It was about cutting someone off, and let me tell you, everyone talks about doing it, but no one talks about how hard it is having to stand firm on that decision, knowing it's not what you truly wanted. That phrase really hit home for me. It perfectly describes the internal battle. You logically know why you had to end things – maybe it was toxic, maybe there was no future, maybe it was just draining you. But emotionally, it feels like a failure. You question every single step you took, every word you said, every choice you made. You wonder, did I mess up? Could I have done something differently to avoid this heartbreak? The truth is, making a tough decision, especially one involving a relationship or a significant person in your life, is never easy. It's often filled with grief, even if it's for the best. And when you're grieving, it's natural to feel like you're constantly failing, like nothing you do is right. This isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sign that you're human, that you cared deeply, and that you're processing a significant loss. One thing that helped me was acknowledging that it’s okay to miss someone even after you’ve decided to end things. Missing them doesn't invalidate your decision. It just means that person held a place in your heart, and letting go is a process, not a switch you can just flip. I had to learn to be kind to myself during this time. Instead of beating myself up for feeling sad or regretful, I tried to give myself the same compassion I would offer a friend. Standing firm on that decision, when your heart is telling you to just go back to what was familiar, is incredibly painful. There were days I almost gave in, simply because the pain of loneliness or the guilt was so overwhelming. But I reminded myself of the reasons I made the choice. I wrote them down, not to dwell on the negatives, but to anchor myself when I felt myself drifting back into self-blame. It wasn't about pointing fingers; it was about protecting my well-being. If you're feeling like you can't do anything right, remember that simply making such a difficult decision, and attempting to stand firm on it, shows immense strength. It's a courageous act to prioritize your peace, even if it comes with immediate pain. Allow yourself to feel all the messy emotions – the sadness, the anger, the confusion, the regret. Don't suppress them. Talk to a trusted friend, journal your thoughts, or even seek out a therapist. Sometimes, an outside perspective can help you see that you're not failing; you're simply navigating a very challenging chapter. This feeling of inadequacy won't last forever. Healing isn't linear, and there will be good days and bad days. But with each day you choose to stand firm in your decision and show yourself compassion, you're doing something profoundly right for yourself. You're learning, growing, and slowly but surely, moving towards a place of greater peace. Don't let the temporary feeling of “nothing is right” overshadow the brave steps you're taking.
