- tips that helped me move out!📦

✨backstory✨

i moved out at 20 & literally moved every year until i moved states so til about 24 which is 4 different apartments so i have alooot of experience with moving🤣. each time was either i loved the apartment but hated who i was renting from because something was always going on (i’ll make a story time about that soon, i still have pictures😩), the apartment was horrible but when your young your only thinking about finding somewhere with cheap rent & having friends over all the time, i moved in with my friends but everyone was moving to different states once the lease was up & i couldnt afford a $1500 rent by myself at the time & last but not least, my very close friend was starting a family as her bf was in the process of moving back in town & i was in a long distance relationship so we both moved out when the lease was up.

-

moving out doesn’t have to be stressful, it’s actually a very exciting experience. now there were times where i literally had just enough to pay my bills & eat noodles for a few days til payday🤣. i just wanted to be independent. i did have some help from my mom being that im her only child but i tried very hard not to need anything because i knew the speech “you shouldn’t have left but you can come back when you want” was coming right after. living on my own has been full of ups & downs but i always make sure my bills are paid & i have food to eat. well happy apartment hunting guys!!

... Read moreMoving out on your own is one of life's most exciting adventures, but it definitely comes with its own set of challenges! Beyond just packing up your belongings in a moving truck filled with cardboard boxes, true independence means mastering daily life skills – something I quickly learned after getting my first set of apartment keys. One of the biggest lessons I learned was how to truly manage a budget once I was actually living on my own. It's not just about saving up to move; it's about sustaining that independence. I found it incredibly helpful to create a detailed budget example, listing all my income and monthly bills. This helped me see exactly where my money was going and where I could start cutting costs. For instance, I realized I was spending too much on eating out, which led me to… …learning how to prepare and cook simple meals! This skill was a game-changer for my finances and my health. Instead of expensive takeout, I started stocking my modern kitchen with pantry staples. Things like pasta, rice, canned beans, and frozen veggies became my best friends. I experimented with easy one-pot recipes and meal prepping for the week. It not only saved me hundreds but also gave me a sense of accomplishment. You definitely don't need to be a gourmet chef; simple, nutritious meals are key when you’re starting out. Another aspect of living alone that took some getting used to was how to manage your own schedule. Without someone else telling you what to do, it’s easy to let things slide. I started by creating a daily routine, scheduling time for work, chores, errands, and even self-care. It might sound rigid, but it actually gave me more freedom and helped me stay on top of everything. From remembering to pay bills on time to setting aside time for cleaning, a good schedule makes all the difference. And what do you not need to know before moving out? Well, you don’t need to know how to perfectly decorate your empty living room or have every single kitchen gadget right away. Focus on the essentials first! My first few apartments, I definitely prioritized basic furniture and kitchenware over expensive decorations. You can always add to your space over time. Remember, having an emergency savings fund is far more important than having the trendiest throw pillows. I learned to live minimally at first, and it taught me valuable lessons about what truly matters. It’s a journey, and every step, from packing those black trash bags to finally turning your apartment keys, is a part of building your independent life.
