4 Skincare Products That Didn’t Work for My Skin ❌

🧴 4 Skincare Products That Didn’t Work for My Skin ❌ | Part 1

One thing skincare has taught me: a good product can still be the wrong product for YOUR skin. 👏🏾

These aren’t products I’m calling “bad.” They simply didn’t work well for my skin, and each one taught me something different about what my skin likes and what it definitely does NOT. 😂

❌ The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides 1% Serum:

I experienced repeated cheek pinkness and redness while using this. I tried adjusting when and how I used it, but my skin continued giving me the same answer: nope. 😭

❌ LANEIGE Balance Mode Rice Foaming Deep Cleanser:

I wanted to love this cleanser, but it left my skin feeling dry and tight. Eventually, I also noticed products later in my routine beginning to sting. Going back to a gentler cleanser made a noticeable difference.

❌ La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Light Fluid Sunscreen SPF 50:

The dealbreaker was the white cast. Sunscreen is something I want to apply generously and consistently, and if I don’t like how one looks on my skin, I’m much less likely to reach for it.

❌ The Ordinary Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner:

This was another reminder to READ those ingredient lists. 👀 My skin doesn’t tolerate ferments well, and this toner contains a yeast-derived ferment.

🤎 What I learned from all four?

Skincare is incredibly personal.

Your skin type, sensitivities, ingredients, environment and even the other products in your routine can influence whether something works for you.

So if everyone on social media is raving about a product and your skin hates it… listen to your skin. 😂

Your skin may love what mine didn’t and that’s perfectly okay.

And yes… there’s a reason this says Part 1. 👀😂

💬 What’s a skincare product you REALLY wanted to love, but your skin said absolutely not?

✨ Decode your skin. Elevate your glow. 💧✨

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, choosing skincare products that truly suit your skin type—especially sensitive skin—can feel like a trial-and-error journey. One key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of patch testing new products before fully integrating them into your routine. For example, the copper peptides and ferment ingredients in some serums and toners can be potent and beneficial for many, but they might trigger redness or sensitivity in others, like me. Another thing I realized is that formulations with potentially drying ingredients, such as some foaming cleansers, can disrupt the moisture barrier. This disruption often leads to tightness and increased reactivity in skin, causing subsequent products to sting or cause irritation. Switching to a gentler, hydrating cleanser can help restore balance and improve overall skin comfort. When it comes to sunscreen, I found that a white cast isn’t just an aesthetic issue—it affects how often I’m willing to apply protection. Mineral sunscreens are great for sensitive skin, but formulas that leave a visible residue can discourage consistent use, impacting skin health over time. It’s worth exploring tinted or clear formulations to avoid this problem. Additionally, the environment and other products in your routine play a crucial role in how your skin reacts. Seasonal changes, humidity, and even pollution can influence skin sensitivity. Mixing certain active ingredients without proper spacing can also lead to adverse reactions. Ultimately, skincare success lies in tailoring products to your unique skin profile, considering ingredient lists carefully, and observing how your skin responds. Listening to your skin’s signals and adapting accordingly is far more valuable than following trends or social media hype. This personal approach helps improve skin tolerance and efficacy, creating a sustainable and joyful skincare journey.

you are correct. I have tried Oil of Olay about 4 different times and each time it broke my skin out. so just because it may be a little expensive doesn't mean it's good for YOU😍
