Staying well-hydrated is crucial, especially for those on a bariatric surgery journey. After my surgery, I found that regular water sometimes felt bland, making it harder to drink enough throughout the day. That’s when I started exploring the concept of "loaded water"—infusing water with natural ingredients like fresh fruits, herbs, and even electrolytes. Loaded water not only makes hydration more enjoyable but also adds subtle flavors and some extra nutrients without added sugars or calories. For example, slicing cucumber, lemon, and mint leaves into water creates a refreshing drink that keeps me motivated to drink more frequently. Sometimes, adding a pinch of sea salt helps replenish electrolytes, which is especially helpful as I adjust to dietary changes after bariatric surgery. I recommend preparing loaded water the night before so the flavors meld nicely, making it taste even better the next day. Carrying a reusable bottle filled with infused water helps prevent dehydration, which can be a challenge post-surgery. Additionally, staying hydrated supports digestion and aids in recovery. If you’re also on a bariatric journey or simply looking to boost your hydration routine, trying loaded water can be a simple but effective change. It’s a flavorful way to meet your hydration goals without resorting to sugary drinks, helping promote overall wellness and success on your health journey.
