being vulnerable on social media 🤍

idk why but something has been telling me to post about my experiences dealing with feelings of:

🦋 being alone

🦋 feeling behind

🦋 having no clue what i want to do with my life, etc.

if you have ever experienced any of these thoughts, know you are not alone and there are so many people out there who understand you. ❤️‍🩹

i love you all and wish you all the absolute best 🫶🏻

... Read moreIt's incredible how many of us, especially in our teens and 20s, quietly battle the same overwhelming feelings: the nagging sense of being left behind or alone, the heavy weight of not having a clear purpose, and the constant worry that we have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Believe me, I've been there, and sometimes I still am. There's often this embarrassed feeling that comes with admitting these struggles, especially when it seems like all our peers on social media are living their best, most successful lives. That's why I think it's so important to talk about these experiences openly. Social media, while a great tool for connection, can also be a huge contributor to this feeling of inadequacy. We scroll through curated highlight reels, seeing job promotions, engagements, global travels, and perfectly aesthetic lives. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking everyone else has it all figured out, making our own struggles feel even more isolating. But what we see online is rarely the full picture of someone's personal life – it's often just the glossy surface. One of the biggest lessons I'm learning is that everyone's path is gonna look different. There's no single timeline for success, happiness, or finding your passion. My journey is unique, and so is yours. It’s okay if your career path isn't straightforward, if you haven't found 'the one,' or if your idea of adventure looks different from someone else's. The pressure to conform to societal expectations, amplified by what we see our friends doing, can be immense. So, what can we do when these feelings hit? First, acknowledge them. It’s okay to feel lost or lonely. Second, try to be more mindful of your social media consumption. If certain accounts make you feel worse about yourself, it's okay to mute or unfollow. Remember that true connection often happens offline. Third, start small in exploring what truly excites you. You don't need to find your life's purpose overnight. Try new hobbies, read different books, learn new skills. Each small step can reveal a piece of the puzzle. Finally, and this goes back to the original post, consider embracing vulnerability. Sharing your authentic self, whether it's through a post like this on Lemon8 or with a trusted friend, can be incredibly liberating. It’s not about oversharing every detail of your personal life online, but about finding spaces where you feel safe to express your true feelings. You might be surprised by how many people resonate with your story, offering support and showing you that you are truly not alone. This shared experience can build a powerful sense of community and remind us that our struggles, while painful, are also part of the human experience.

I am a fan of Brene Brown’s books, and if you know anything about her or her platform, it’s built on the idea that vulnerability is an important aspect in connection. When I think of what it means to be vulnerable, I think about the ways in which I respond to people on social media. If I responded

Saw this trend, knew I had to share. Life isn’t perfect and we need to stop comparing ourselves to other people on these apps. (Obviously I need help with that as well. 😬) #socialmedia #socialmediaisfake #fakesocialmedia #transparency #openbook #vulnerable #vulnerability #tikto

Being on Social Media Despite my Dislike
I can understand how social media is a tool for networking and putting your art on a pedestal. I'm not sure if it's my Aquarian nature or what, but I just don't want to be bothered with the socials. I'm aware of how it can help, I just feel so disconnected to it sometimes! Anyone el

Before diving into digital marketing, I was living my dream as a beauty influencer in LA for over 7 years. I worked with major brands, launched my own makeup line, and even made my first 6 figures. Life was good—I bought my first home in Georgia for $550,000 after relocating. But then, out of n

Have I quit social media?
I’m so sorry I haven’t been very present online lately… But if I’m being really honest with you… it’s actually been kind of amazing 🥹 I miss my community so much, don’t get me wrong. But some days it’s exhausting to feel like I have to show up, perform, and hope the internet is kind that day.
