My breastfeeding journey!

For the first three months of my daughter’s life, we lived in survival mode. She had severe reflux, and every feeding brought pain for her and worry for us. Doctors suggested switching to formula, but I learned it often wouldn’t help with reflux. The one suggested to completely change my diet instead—cutting out all acidic foods, spices, and anything that could make things worse for her. A GERDS diet plus dairies & other common allergy foods. So I did.

My husband and I barely slept because she had to be held upright constantly, even during the night. She cried more than she slept, and we cried too—feeling helpless, wondering if we’d ever see her happy or at peace. People brushed it off as us being new parents, but we knew this wasn’t “just normal.”

Through endless prayers, research, and sheer determination, we kept going. Our baby girl was so strong, even when life hurt her so much. It broke my heart to see her struggle, but I was in awe of her resilience.

One day, everything started to shift. After months of sacrifice and sleepless nights, her pain eased, and for the first time, she smiled. I’ll never forget that moment. It was like time stopped. I sobbed because I finally saw her joy, her light—and it was worth every single sacrifice. Compared to most reflux cases her time of pain was very short and we know that it was all God.

I had some of my breastmilk turned into jewelry. It’s a reminder of what we overcame together. A symbol of the love, sacrifice, and strength we shared during one of the hardest chapters of our lives. I continued to nurse her until she was 15 months old. I am so truly thankful for my breastfeeding journey.

If you’re in the thick of it right now, just know: you’re stronger than you think, and these moments—no matter how hard—won’t last forever. Hold on. You’re doing better than you know. 💛

... Read moreBreastfeeding can be a challenging journey for many mothers, especially when facing issues like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in infants. Parents often have to make tough choices regarding their baby's feeding, balancing dietary restrictions and emotional struggles. Constant skin-to-skin contact has been shown to help soothe babies with reflux, allowing for a more secure attachment. It's also essential to remain educated about common reflux symptoms, which may help in improving feeding practices and minimize discomfort. To support better breastfeeding experiences, many find community support invaluable. Online forums and local groups can provide a space for sharing stories and exchanging advice. Ultimately, the breastfeeding journey is unique for every mother and child, filled with both challenges and cherished milestones. Remember, you're not alone—there are resources and support systems available to help navigate through these tough times together.
