How to ground yourself

Let’s talk about a fun way to refocus or reset the mind when you’re overworking, overthinking or just plain old stuck in bed or whatever and can’t seem to move to do the things you want to do.

1. Choose a element or a form of matter or an object that is calming to you

(Examples: air, water, earth, fire, gas …yes putty or slime can be one)

2. think about how it forms, moves or exists for at least 10min (watch a video, go outside, listen to it or play with it)

(Optional for more play) try to mimic it with your body

3. Try applying what you’ve taken in to something going on in your life or headspace

4. Think about your new outlook and write or type out how being more like that element at times can change how you approach and handle what’s bothering you.

*For example this is one exercise I did

(To be putty is to be free) aka flexible, adaptable, to flow and be open to new possibilities. When we remain malleable to our surroundings and to change we will always prevail… and be able to slink out of bed like a kid if need be to do my adult things.

Have fun getting out of your headspace mazes or out of that bed / chair and being able to have fun and relax even if it is for about 20min
