I’ve been running for 3 months 👟

I’ve been running for three months and this is what I’ve learned, I started running slowly and what I mean is that I started by walking 1.4 miles nearly daily as the weather permitted . Eventually that turned into walking for a few minutes and running for a few minutes. Walking for three minutes followed by running for three minutes, then I stretched the length of time I ran more than I walked. Now three months later I can run over three miles without needing a break.

I turn 30 in three months and I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since I was a child. Between running and peloton I honestly feel great, I never thought that I would see myself in this light and I’m beyond grateful for this experience.

The lessons :

Slow and steady is what increases distance and stamina, the only competition is yourself.

A water backpack is great in the beginning because of not knowing how much water you will need so you always have a supply. However as time goes on you build endurance and the excess isn’t super necessary as you get to know your needs. Because of this I run with a Fanny pack now that holds my water bottle and keys and that allows me to feel freer when I’m running.

Patience. Patience with yourself, there is no rush. There is nothing to win. You won’t run at your max everyday and that is normal and necessary.

Even if you enjoy running as I do , the thought won’t thrill you everyday but it’s during the run that you will find your smile and that is more than okay.

Many find success in using apps to track their progress and motivate them. Investing in good running shoes is essential for comfort and injury prevention. Also, joining running groups can provide support and inspire you through shared experiences. Remember to set realistic goals and celebrate small milestones along the way. Engage in cross-training activities like cycling or swimming to boost endurance without overloading your running schedule. Nutrition plays a significant role in your performance; a balanced diet with adequate hydration can elevate your running experience. one of my main goals for this year was to read more books, but a couple months went by and I didn't read at all! I knew I needed to get out of this slump... so I decided to take advantage of my weird obsession with journaling and documenting things and I started my very own reading journal!

What You’re Really Running From
Most people are not lazy. They’re afraid of what silence exposes. So they keep themselves overstimulated with scrolling, food, noise, and constant distraction. But nothing changes until you sit alone long enough to face what you’ve been avoiding. Growth begins when you stop escaping.

I would NOT have considered myself a runner earlier this year. I've always enjoyed sprinting but long distance running was never my thing or something I was good at. But I decided to sign up for a 10 mile race in the summer to challenge myself and by surprise I slowly began to love running!!
