HOW I SAVED 1k IN 8 WEEKS

how i saved over 1,000$ in 8 weeks (easier than you think)

first things first recognize your salary, how can you split up your paycheck while having financial freedom?

•for me personally i’m a server so i get “paid” daily or whatever days i work. i started by saving all my 1 and 5 dollar bills in a savings journal. i also collect all the coins i have into a jar (they add up!)

after a week i had saved 200$ in just small bills alone. this strategy works best for people who don’t rely on a weekly/biweekly pay check.

if you do happen to rely on pay checks, divide where your weekly amount will go to (50 towards bills, 50 towards groceries, etc.) doing this each week will add up towards the end of the month, and it’s less money you have to worry about if you’re in a last minute situation.

now ask yourself what do you really need?

do you need the streaming subscription you use only if you can’t find anything else to watch?

do you need to buy 5$ coffee everyday when you can make it at home?

do i really want to grab takeout or do i just not want to cook?

asking yourself questions like these has made me put a pause on how many purchases i make monthy. believe me i know we all get the itch to buy something new.

this is where splitting your check comes in handy. if you did a small portion of your check towards a personal wants savings, you will be able to use that cash how you please without worrying about taking money from more important things, such as bills and groceries.

the next tip is what helped me the MOST.

i bought a savings journal off of amazon and labeled the 8 folders with the things i spend money on the most.

budgeting what goes in each folder has helped me take more control on my spending habits and helped me prevent paying my bills last minute. i had priority folders (bills, subscriptions, food, car) that would get a higher percentage of what i made during the week, and pamper folders (extra spending, going out, holidays/birthdays, vacation) which all got the smaller percentages depending on which i preferred to have more money for.

-ex i put 30$ into my vacation folder and 10$ into going out.

i hope these little tips and tricks help out! if you want to hear more about making a savings journal comment your questions and i can make a post :)

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my journey to save smarter, I wanted to dive deeper into some questions I often get about my Money Saving Tips, especially how I managed to save OVER $1000 IN 8 WEEKS using what some call a 'money spread' and those clever small-bill tricks. It truly changed my financial habits, and I think it can help you too! One of the easiest ways I started seeing my savings grow was by embracing the 5-dollar bill challenge. It sounds simple, but the mental shift is huge. Every time I got a $5 bill back as change, it immediately went into my dedicated savings jar. Seriously, it’s like magic! You don't "miss" the $5 bill because it was just change, but over a week, those add up incredibly fast. For those of you who handle cash regularly, like me, it's a game-changer. But even if you mostly use cards, you can adapt this: maybe transfer $5 into a separate savings account every time you make a specific type of purchase, like buying coffee or takeout. Make it a fun habit, not a chore! Next up, let's talk about how to save money weekly. Beyond just splitting your paycheck, which is a fantastic start, I found that setting up a weekly financial 'check-in' made a huge difference. I call it my 'weekly money date.' This isn't about restriction; it's about awareness. I'd sit down, review my spending for the past week, and then allocate funds for the upcoming week. This includes setting aside specific amounts for groceries, bills, and yes, even my 'fun' money. This proactive approach helps prevent overspending and ensures I'm consistently moving towards my 1k goal. You can even try popular challenges like the 52-week savings challenge (saving $1 the first week, $2 the second, etc.) or its inverse, which builds momentum quickly. Consistency truly is key here. And finally, the 'money spread' – this is where my savings journal really shines! Think of it less as a strict budget and more as a visual game plan for your money. My journal has labeled envelopes or sections for everything: essential bills, groceries, car maintenance, but also fun stuff like 'going out,' 'vacation,' and 'treat yourself.' Each week, as I mentioned, after my 'money date,' I physically (or digitally, for some) allocate funds into these categories. For example, if I earned $X, I might put $100 into bills, $50 into groceries, $20 into my 'going out' fund, and $15 into my 'vacation' fund. Seeing the money physically or digitally 'spread' out makes it tangible. It helps me visualize exactly where my money is going and where I have room to cut back or save more. It completely transformed my understanding of my spending habits and empowered me to make conscious choices. These Money Saving Tips aren't just about cutting costs; they're about building a healthier relationship with your money and making saving an exciting part of your routine. By incorporating these strategies, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can hit your own HOW I SAVED OVER 1000$ IN 8 WEEKS milestone!
