Overall Rating✨: 5/5
This book kept me on my toes the whoooole time! I thought I knew exactly how it was gonna end, and then I was WRONG. I love when books make me feel dumb😉
The characters were great, and I loved the banter between Jack and Anna! My heart broke as I learned more of the backstory and the twists gave me whiplash! I loved this book and am very excited to read more from her! I already have a physical copy of Rock, Paper, Scissors and I’m definitely bumping that up on my tbr list!
... Read moreSo, you've heard the buzz about Alice Feeney's 'His & Hers,' and you're wondering if it lives up to the hype? As someone who just devoured it, I can wholeheartedly say YES! This book isn't just a thriller; it's a masterclass in psychological suspense that will genuinely mess with your head in the best possible way.
What truly sets 'His & Hers' apart for me is the dual narrative structure. Following Anna and Jack, two seemingly disconnected individuals whose lives become intricately entangled, creates a constant tension. You're constantly trying to piece together their stories, looking for clues, and when you think you've got it figured out, Feeney pulls the rug right out from under you. I found myself reading late into the night, my Kindle screen glowing, utterly captivated by the unraveling layers of deceit and secrets. It’s the kind of book where you whisper 'no way!' to yourself multiple times.
Now, about that 'spicy' question I've seen pop up in search queries – if you're looking for explicit romance, this isn't that kind of book. 'His & Hers' is 'spicy' in its psychological intensity and its dark, twisted plot. It delves deep into themes of manipulation, betrayal, and the dark side of human relationships, especially those within a marriage. The 'spice' here is the thrill of the chase, the danger, and the shocking reveals, not steamy encounters. It's a mature read, absolutely, but for its complex themes and chilling atmosphere.
The characters, particularly Anna and Jack, are incredibly well-developed, despite their flaws. Their banter in the beginning hinted at a complicated history, and as their backstories were revealed, my heart genuinely ached for them at times, even as I questioned their motives. Feeney has a knack for crafting characters who feel real, making their plights and decisions resonate deeply.
If you're already an Alice Feeney fan, or if you've heard of her other works like 'Rock, Paper, Scissors,' you'll find her signature style—unpredictable, dark, and utterly gripping—shining through 'His & Hers.' Her ability to weave intricate plots with shocking twists is unparalleled. For anyone who loves a domestic thriller that keeps you guessing until the final page, this is a must-add to your reading list. It’s perfect for a Book Club discussion too, as there’s so much to unpack! Seriously, pick up this book; your mind will thank you (and then probably need a break!).
