The Greatest Commandment
This was too good not to share, from a study I have been working in for Lent season!
If you grew up in church I'm sure you are familiar with what Jesus calls the greatest commandment, which is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. But what does this actually look like? What does it mean?
The Hebrew word for heart refers to our thoughts and intentions, which more closely resembles what we think of as our "mind".
The Hebrew word for soul means our desire and the word for might (strength) means every resource a person has.
So to Love God in this way means that we are loving him with all of our mind, desire, and every resource we have.
Essentially, with all of our being.
This particular study has really challenged me to evaluate how I am loving the Lord. Are all my thoughts and intentions directed to Him? Are all of my desíres and resources spent pursuing His will for my life and others?

For example, consider journaling your thoughts and intentions as you pray, or setting aside resources for charitable giving. Immersing yourself in spiritually rich communities, such as through groups like Well Watered Women, can also provide support and accountability. In addition, incorporating meaningful rituals, such as morning meditations or evening reflections, can be effective ways to center your mind and desires on the pursuit of God's will. The upcoming Lenten practices offer opportunities to grow spiritually and to share insights with others who are on a similar journey. By living out the greatest commandment, we continuously challenge ourselves to embody true love and commitment to our faith.
