Living with brittle nails and the habit of nail biting can be really frustrating, especially when you're trying to grow them long and healthy. From my experience, one of the biggest challenges is the constant splitting and breaking of nails, which often leads to the temptation to bite them once again. I found that keeping nails moisturized with cuticle oil and avoiding harsh chemicals made a noticeable difference. Also, trimming nails regularly to prevent accidental scratches became necessary because long nails can sometimes cause unintended harm, especially when you have small children around. It’s a tough balance between wanting to keep your nails long and the need to be practical. A helpful tip I discovered was to apply a strengthening base coat or nail hardener. This not only helped reduce brittleness but also made my nails less prone to splitting. Coupled with a healthy diet rich in biotin and vitamins, my nails gradually became more resilient. Moreover, replacing the habit of biting nails with healthier alternatives, like using a stress ball or keeping my hands busy with crafts, helped curb the impulse. Emotional support and recognizing triggers behind nail biting also played a key role. Though it’s been heartbreaking to cut my nails after they finally grew long, I learned that nail care is a continuous journey. Patience, consistent care, and small lifestyle changes can make a big difference.
