Grievance is a hard journey! Losing S.O.S

Vulnerability

🤍 My Story: My sister and I were 10 months apart. Suddenly on a cold February night in 2014 my family and I lost her unexpectedly she was 7 months pregnant with my nephew at the time. The happiest I had seen her, first baby on the way, she just got in engaged a week earlier, & life was great! 😌 Until suddenly it was all taken! It is going on 11 years w/o my left 🫲. I will say that throughout my #healingjourney I found peace by talking to her or being near the ocean is where I feel her presence the most. It helps comfort me when I really need it. I still have bad days not as many as the years or days before. My grief journey has taught me to a lot.

🤍 How I Felt: In shock or disbelief. Total loss and despair once reality set in again, and I realized she was really gone. I felt alone…. For a couple of years I shunned away from getting close or even having friends. After talking to my therapist, I realized I was pushing people away because I didn’t think I could handle any more type of loss in my life after losing my sister. It was hard for me to look at a picture of her for a long time. Everyone deals with grief and trauma differently. God helped me through this grief process the most. I prayed to him, that he would let me see some type of peace with this terrible situation fam and I was going through. He did! My faith pulled me through my healing journey.

🤍 My Takeaways: Never take anyone for granted especially your loved ones. Always tell your loved ones that you 🩷 them no matter what. Even if you don’t see eye to eye on something for that moment in time. No regrets about that. I will always remember my sister & our memories, traditions, and places we traveled. I bring our “sibby” traditions now to my own family. I tell my children about her. I owe my God a lot of gratitude for he brought me through the darkest days/nights of my life. If not for his love I don’t know where I’d be today. I pray that if you or if you know someone going through a difficult trauma filled time. That you would listen to them and give them the best advice possible. This is my take away on my behalf of my #healingjourney #lemons8 Location:

... Read moreGrief can be an overwhelming and isolating experience, often leading to feelings of despair and longing for connection. In navigating this difficult journey, many individuals find solace in personal stories of loss and recovery. Engaging in open conversations about grief not only fosters a supportive community but also helps validate feelings of loneliness and sadness. Techniques for processing grief vary greatly, from therapy and support groups to spiritual practices. Utilizing mindfulness and grounding exercises can greatly enhance healing, providing a way to remain present through the intense waves of emotion. It's crucial to allow oneself to feel and express these grief-related emotions, as each stage of mourning is unique and deserves acknowledgment. Connecting with nature, as mentioned in this narrative, can also play a profound role in healing. Many people find that certain locations, like the ocean, serve as a peaceful reminder of loved ones lost. Creating new traditions or rituals in honor of the deceased can preserve memories while fostering a sense of companionship. Additionally, turning to inspirational literature or coping resources can provide guidance and comfort during such difficult times. Emphasizing the importance of support from family and friends can help combat feelings of isolation, reminding us that we are not alone in our experiences. As we reflect on our loved ones, incorporating their memory into our lives helps cultivate a meaningful connection that transcends their physical absence. Expressing love and gratitude can pave the way towards healing, nurturing resilience as we learn to navigate life’s complexities after a profound loss.
