... Read moreLately, I've noticed loneliness can creep in at unexpected times. Sometimes, it's during those quiet moments watching the city lights come alive, seeing the warm, orange light reflecting off the towering skyscrapers at dusk. It’s strange, isn't it? Even surrounded by so much, you can still feel utterly alone. I often find myself pondering, 'why do we feel lonely' despite having connections and experiences. It’s like a hollow ache, a yearning for something just out of reach. For me, it often happens when I'm reflecting on past events, perhaps after a busy day or when I'm missing someone special. I've learned a powerful trick to combat this feeling: diving deep into my 'warm memories.' It’s more than just reminiscing; it's an active process of reliving those moments that filled my heart with joy and connection. For instance, I remember a specific summer evening, sitting on a porch swing with my grandma, the air heavy with the scent of jasmine, and her telling me stories. The memory itself isn't just a picture; it's the warmth of her hand, the sound of her laughter, the feeling of absolute belonging. When I consciously bring that memory to the forefront, the cold grip of loneliness genuinely loosens. It’s like a little pocket of sunshine that I carry within me, ready to be opened. So, how can thinking about warm memories help overcome loneliness? Firstly, it shifts your focus from the present void to past abundance. Instead of dwelling on what's missing, you're reminded of what you've had and what you're capable of experiencing again. Secondly, these memories often connect us to people we love or moments of strong connection, which directly counteracts the feeling of isolation. It's a reminder that you are, and have been, loved and connected. Lastly, it taps into positive emotions. The brain doesn't always differentiate perfectly between a vivid memory and a current experience, so reliving joy can actually trigger those same feel-good chemicals. It’s a natural mood booster! I encourage you to try it next time you feel that familiar pang of loneliness. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let your mind wander to a moment that made you feel truly happy, loved, or content. What colors do you see? What sounds do you hear? What smells are present? What emotions arise? Hold onto that feeling. It’s a powerful tool we all possess. And remember, you're not alone in feeling this way. Sharing these moments and how we cope can be incredibly uplifting. What are your go-to warm memories? Share your #storytime with us, because sometimes, just knowing others understand can be the warmest memory of all.

I don’t get lonely because I work with people day in and day out. I come home and lots of times I don’t want to speak to anyone because my day can be very draining. I like my me time and I love being autonomous.

I’ve felt lonely for the majority part of my life. As a teenage I isolated myself a lot and didn’t make many friends. One of the moments I felt lonely the most was after having my son. I didn’t have the support system from my family because the lived hundreds of miles away

Things That Made My Life Feel Softer..
Lately, I’ve been learning that a soft life isn’t about spending more money or having a perfect life… it’s about creating small moments that make you feel safe, calm, and happy to be alive again. 🤍 Keeping fresh flowers around. Taking myself out. Going on walks instead of replying right away.

A Prayer When You Feel Forgotten
In a world that scrolls past your pain, God pauses. You are not invisible to Him. He sees your sacrifices, your tears in the dark, your heartache behind the smile. You’re not forgotten — you’re engraved on His hands. This prayer is a reminder that even when people overlook you, heaven never does.

An empty cup is not lonely. It is ready. 🍵
In old folk wisdom, emptiness was never feared. An empty cup meant it had been used well— it had held warmth, comfort, conversation, love. When the cup is empty, it isn’t lacking. It isn’t broken. It isn’t waiting in sadness. It is simply clear. Releasing old love is not about erasing
