would you switch doctors over this?
I went to the doctor recently because I’ve been dealing with some symptoms that had me worried… and right there in front of me, my doctor literally typed my exact symptoms into Google. 😳
I get it—medicine is constantly evolving, and no one can possibly memorize every single condition or presentation. Maybe it’s actually a sign they’re double-checking instead of guessing. But watching it happen in real time felt… unsettling. It made me wonder if they didn’t have enough knowledge themselves or if they were just being extra cautious.
Part of me appreciates a doctor who admits when they need to confirm something rather than pretending to know it all. But another part of me couldn’t shake the feeling of, “Shouldn’t you already have some idea before reaching for Google?”
Have you ever had a similar experience? Did it make you question your doctor’s professionalism or did you see it as thoroughness?
Would you switch doctors over this, or is this totally normal these days? Drop your thoughts below—I’m so curious to hear how you’d handle it! 🩺👇

If it was a general or primary care- no. But if it’s for specialty, and they still had to look up some thing for the specialty they studied for, yes.
