Hangzhou Matcha Lake!!

The matcha lake (Qingshan Lake) is about a one-hour drive from Hangzhou city centre and is definitely a must-see when you’re in Hangzhou! I took a Didi there and the driver was shocked by the distance and clearly was not happy about it 😮‍💨

Tickets are around $6–$7 and can be bought on the spot. You can kayak there and see some super cute ducks and deers too 🦆🦌 There are lots of great photo spots, but definitely expect crowds!

... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to Qingshan Lake, here's what I learned that might help enhance your visit. First, getting there by Didi or taxi is convenient but can be a longer ride than expected, so prepare accordingly. Once at the lake, besides kayaking, walking along the trails gives you stunning views of the vibrant green water and the surrounding forest, which truly lives up to the 'matcha' name. Wildlife spotting is a highlight here: besides charming ducks, keep your eyes peeled for deer casually roaming near the shore, offering excellent photo opportunities. Visiting on weekdays or early mornings can help you avoid some of the crowds, making the experience more peaceful. For photographers, the lake offers various vantage points ideal for capturing the contrast between the light green water and lush surroundings. Also, bring some snacks or a picnic; there are nice spots around the lake to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Overall, Qingshan Lake is a refreshing escape from Hangzhou's urban bustle and captures the beauty of nature in eastern China. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or just want to enjoy some quiet time, it’s a destination worth adding to your Hangzhou itinerary.
