10 Years of Memories I Almost Didn’t Have

10 years ago I was physically unhealthy. Suffering from chronic migraines, hemiplegic migraines, seizures, and unfortunately an ED. I was in an endless cycle of mental and physical battles. I was failing college. Again. Two year prior I had to drop out and eventually take a semester off due to my physical and mental health. I had also just gotten out of an extremely unhealthy relationship. On both sides. I had lost all hope. Didn’t care about my future. And felt like a burden. So, I gave up.

10 years later and I truly can not believe how different things are. It took a long time to get where I am. And yet, I don’t regret the memories I piled up in these last 10 years.

... Read moreReflecting on a decade can often reveal profound insights about change and personal growth. This journey begins with overcoming significant health challenges, including chronic migraines and emotional struggles, that many individuals face. Understanding the impact of these experiences sheds light on their importance in creating resilience. As friends and family may often see someone struggle, it’s vital to actively seek help and support to rebuild one’s life. Mental health discussions have gained traction, emphasizing the importance of reaching out to therapists, joining support groups, or utilizing online mental health services. Furthermore, engaging in daily self-care practices, like setting small, achievable goals, can help cultivate a positive mindset. Ten years may seem like a long span, but each day presents an opportunity to learn and grow. Therefore, embracing memories—whether joyful or painful—plays a crucial role in appreciating life's complexities. Remember, the journey is not just about the destination; it's also about the lessons learned and connections formed along the way. This reflection can motivate others to share their stories, contributing to a broader dialogue about healing and empowerment.
