Life-Changing Relationship Books 💕

Hey friends! I’ve been itching to share some book recs with you as I've been going through counseling. Here are 4 to start off:

📖 The 5 Love Languages (Gary Chapman)

🍋 A recent reread! This short but sweet book talks about the different ways we show and receive love. I love how approachable and practical it is. Oh, and I’m a proud Quality Time (+Receiving Gifts) girly — what are you? 😁

📖 Boundaries (Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend)

🍋 This has been another game-changer. Reading it made me realize how often I’d allowed other people to dictate my life. ✒️"True intimacy is only built around the freedom to disagree." We owe it to the people we love to be honest about our feelings, set healthy boundaries, and honor theirs as well.

📖 Youth, Are You Preparing for Your Divorce? (Colin & Russell Standish)

🍋 A no-holds-barred manual for dating, marriage, divorce and everything in between! 👊💥 My partner actually recommended this one to me, and we’ve been referring to it throughout our courtship 👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏾 I’ve also shared this with both married and single friends, and they’ve all been blessed!

📖 The Adventist Home (Ellen Gould White)

🍋 A current favorite that I’m also reading alongside my partner 👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏾 The prose is a bit old-fashioned (it was written in the 1800s)... but if you’re not intimidated, this is THE guide to building a happy Christian home — and a deeper relationship with God, too 🏡 It’s packed with Scriptural references, so you’ll definitely want to have your Bible handy.

I'd love to hear if any of you have read these books! Or if you have any other recs! Looking forward to your comments below 💛

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to dive deeper into one of the books I mentioned earlier, 'The Adventist Home.' While it might seem like an older read, its wisdom has been incredibly impactful, especially as I've navigated my own journey toward building a strong, faith-filled home life. Many of you, like me, might be looking for an accessible way to read it or to find its most inspiring passages. I definitely understand why this book sparks so much interest! Good news for those seeking convenience: as I've discovered, a free PDF version is available, making this profound guide more accessible than ever. It’s a fantastic option if you prefer reading on devices or want to easily highlight and annotate key passages. Finding it usually involves a quick search on reputable Adventist community websites or digital archives. Just be sure to look for official or approved digital versions to ensure you're getting the complete and accurate text. Having it on hand means you can easily refer back to its teachings anytime, anywhere. What truly makes 'The Adventist Home' timeless are its profound insights and quotable wisdom. While the prose originates from the 1800s, the principles it lays out regarding love, effective parenting, clear communication, and spiritual growth are remarkably universal. For instance, the book deeply emphasizes the importance of a united front in parenting, showing consistent love, and creating an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect within the household. I've personally found the advice on cultivating patience and understanding in daily interactions to be incredibly practical. It really encourages you to reflect on your own actions and how they contribute to the overall harmony of your home environment. Another powerful theme revolves around the idea that our homes should be a little heaven on earth – a sanctuary where faith is nurtured, and character is built. This isn't just about grand gestures but about the small, consistent acts of kindness, devotion, and intentional effort to foster a loving atmosphere. These aren't just abstract ideas; they're actionable blueprints for daily living that can genuinely transform relationships. Don't let the older language intimidate you. Think of it as connecting with wisdom from a different era, offering a unique perspective that contemporary books might not touch upon. I often find myself rereading certain sections, letting the depth of the message sink in. It’s like discovering hidden gems that become more precious with each read. The book encourages self-reflection and practical application, urging readers to not just consume information but to actively implement its teachings in their lives. It’s definitely a journey, not a quick fix. And it’s a journey that has profoundly shaped my perspective on what it means to build a truly blessed and happy home. Whether you're exploring it for the first time via the free PDF, or revisiting its profound quotes and insights, 'The Adventist Home' offers a truly transformative experience for anyone serious about nurturing a loving, God-centered family environment. It's more than just a book; it's a mentorship in print that continues to offer guidance and inspiration across generations.
