Over the years, I’ve found that having the right gear and understanding some basic techniques can truly transform your kayaking experience. First, investing in a well-fitting life jacket is non-negotiable. Safety should always come first, especially when you’re on open water or exploring remote areas. I recommend choosing a lightweight, comfortable jacket that allows freedom of movement. When it comes to paddling, rhythm and posture make a big difference. Sitting upright with a slight forward lean helps maintain balance and power through your strokes. Alternating your paddle strokes evenly on both sides will keep your kayak moving straight and prevent unnecessary fatigue. It’s also essential to be aware of weather conditions before you set out. Wind and currents can impact your journey, so checking forecasts helps plan a safer and more enjoyable outing. I always carry a waterproof map or GPS device, along with a dry bag for essentials like snacks, water, and a phone. For beginners, starting on calm lakes or gentle rivers builds confidence before trying more challenging waters. Joining local kayaking groups or classes can offer support and guidance, plus it’s a great way to meet fellow enthusiasts. Finally, respecting the environment and wildlife around you nurtures a sustainable kayaking practice. Avoid disturbing natural habitats and always pack out what you bring in. Each time I take to the water in my kayak, it’s a wonderful blend of excitement, tranquility, and physical activity. Whether you’re looking to explore serene waterways or challenge yourself with wild rapids, kayaking offers something truly special for everyone.

This kayak FOLDS for travel🤯
Have you ever seen a kayak that folds up for travel? Pretty sure this is one of the best inventions, ever. We had our eye on an @orukayak for sometime and finally received one and are obsessed with it. We opted for the Haven TT so the 3 of us can fit comfortably for our kayaking adventures.
