When I first started trying to find him, I spent ages just swimming around the ocean thinking he'd just *appear*. Turns out, there's a specific trick to getting this aquatic menace to show up, and it all revolves around a rather peculiar critter. First things first, Duke Fishron is an ocean boss. That means you need to be at either the very far left or very far right edge of your Terraria world, specifically in the Ocean biome. I always build a small platform or fishing spot out over the water to make things easier, especially for managing the fight later. Make sure you're actually in the Ocean biome; the background and music will change, and you'll see ocean-specific enemies. If you're not seeing sharks and other ocean creatures, you're probably not far enough out! Now, for the key ingredient: the Truffle Worm. This isn't just any old bait; it's the only way to summon Duke Fishron. You can't craft it, you can't buy it, you have to find it. And let me tell you, it can be quite a hunt! So, how do you get your hands on this precious 'worm food'? You need to venture into the Underground Mushroom Biome. This is the dark, purple-hued biome filled with glowing mushrooms and often home to Mushroom Dwellers. Truffle Worms are rare ambient creatures that spawn only in this biome, and only when you're in Hardmode. They're super skittish, so they'll try to burrow away from you if you get too close. My personal strategy for catching them is to create long, flat tunnels within the Underground Mushroom Biome, ideally with a bug net ready. Using a Hunter Potion can also make them glow, making them easier to spot against the dark background. I usually bring some Flipper or Gills Potions too, just in case I fall into water, as they move really fast! Once you've got a Truffle Worm (or a few, because you might need practice!), head back to your ocean fishing spot. Equip the Truffle Worm as your bait and simply start fishing in the ocean water. Instead of catching fish, if you're in the correct ocean biome and using the Truffle Worm, Duke Fishron will spawn! It's a fantastic moment when he bursts out of the water, so be prepared immediately. Fishing for Duke Fishron with Truffle Worms is a one-way ticket to a challenging fight, so make sure your gear is top-notch. I recommend setting up an arena beforehand with platforms to dodge his attacks. He's got three phases, each tougher than the last, so bring your best weapons and armor! Don't get discouraged if he beats you the first few times; it took me a while to get his patterns down. But the loot?
