Was NOT taken advantage by the 🇻🇳 dong this time 🛍️

After shopping in HCMC last year, my expectations for shopping in Hanoi was high but alas it does not hit the same. Perhaps cause Hanoi is more historical and bar heaven and not really the fashion capitol.

Either way, this means good news for my wallet and i’m actually SAVING money 😗😗😗

... Read moreShopping in Hanoi offers a unique blend of experiences compared to Ho Chi Minh City. From my personal trips, I noticed that while HCMC boasts a bustling fashion scene with diverse and affordable options, Hanoi leans more toward historical charm and formal, traditional styles. This means that if you're like me and prefer casual, trendy clothing, Hanoi might feel more limited—but that limitation can actually work to your advantage financially. During my recent shopping haul in Hanoi, I explored a variety of local shops, including LIBÉ, a standout clothing store whose casual styles and pattern choices really resonated with me. The sizes were on the smaller side, typical for the local market, but I scored some great pieces that fit perfectly and matched my style. Affordable items like their unique babydoll tops reminded me of current fashion trends, making the purchases feel both stylish and smart. I also found treasures like handmade silver rings from Hmong silversmith families in the Ha Giang Loop—an exemplary cultural souvenir that blends craftsmanship with personal meaning. Another unexpected delight was spotting a Nick Wilde handbag—rare and sought-after—at Vincom Center, proving that patience and local exploration can lead to amazing finds. Hanoi’s shopping scene might not be as extensive or fashion-forward as HCMC’s, but it's a great place for those who appreciate quality over quantity and cultural authenticity over mass trends. The prices are slightly higher and shops are more spread out, so planning your visits can save time and energy. Also, local markets like the Hanoi night market offer fun and quirky items, like kid-sized "I <3 Vietnam" tees, perfect for souvenirs or gifts. For travelers and shoppers, Hanoi provides a budget-friendly experience if you adopt a mindful shopping approach. The key is to enjoy the slower pace and historical atmosphere while hunting down unique, quality items. Through this experience, I truly felt that I wasn’t taken advantage of by the Vietnamese dong this time but rather was able to stretch my budget efficiently while acquiring meaningful local products.
