BEWARE OF THIS JOB LISTING PLS

I’m posting this cause of how shocked I was by the situation overall, literally was the most what the actual fuck kind of situation. Like ?? Who starts the interview with saying I heard your generation finds it hard to find jobs??

Not only were they misleading but are so stubborn with their thinking that everyone cfm would sign up for a free yacht membership since it’s FREE, and that this is an easy money job. (Context, the only thing actually free about this membership the yacht travel insurance & invite only dinner parties)

I applied for the job since it states the pay starts from 15/hr to 20/hr. Obviously I would assume that the base pay would be 15/hr and depending on how I perform it would increase. But no, the base pay is $5 an hour??

Was actually so shocked when I saw the contract in real life. And they were pushy for me to sign the contract on the spot saying i definitely can hit the quota. But when I ask what’s their marketing, they say they have no poster, nothing just a clipboard QR code for people to scan through my phone (for customer security) & to bring my own powerbank to power my phone for their event and survey🤨. (Essentially wanting to use my data and electricity for free)

The contract is also extremely skewed to the company’s benefit with no actual benefits for the staff itself. Literally gonna fire u if you don’t get 20 membership signed for in 4 hours ?? In short misleading and outright taking advantage of you.

... Read moreBased on my experience and the detailed contract I reviewed, this kind of event promoter job can be very deceptive. The listing advertises a base pay between $15 to $20 per hour, but in reality, the base pay can be as low as $5 per hour if quotas aren’t met. This is far from the straightforward compensation many job seekers expect. Moreover, the company doesn’t provide typical marketing support like posters, only relying on promoters’ phones and their own power banks to facilitate sign-ups. This means you’re essentially using your personal resources and data for their event. The quota requirement is extremely high, demanding 20 signed memberships in only 4 hours, or risking immediate termination for the day. The membership itself is misleadingly promoted as “free,” but it includes limited benefits and mainly consists of yacht travel insurance and exclusive dinner invitations, which may not justify the effort for many. If you're searching for part-time event promoter jobs in Singapore, especially those promising $20 per hour, be cautious. Always ask for the contract beforehand and clarify pay structures, quotas, and what support the company offers. Confirm if all terms are fair and if you have room to negotiate or refuse unfair conditions. Additionally, be aware of companies that avoid traditional marketing materials in favor of digital-only sign-ups, as this could be a red flag indicating they might be cutting corners at your expense. In summary, don’t rush into signing contracts on the spot. Take your time to analyze the job details and talk to former employees if possible. Being informed is the best way to avoid exploitative part-time jobs and scams in the event promotion field.

🕰️ Tip 1: Timing of hiring cycles I completed my studies in November 2025 and had to wait till February 2026 to receive my official degree certificate, so I decided it would be better to wait till after the new year to start really applying for jobs. Also considering that it was the holiday period
