COME GET COFFEE WITH ME AFTER THERAPY ☕️😋
my therapist after that session: 👁️👄👁️
After every intense therapy session, I find that treating myself to an iced latte becomes a little ritual of comfort and self-care. It’s amazing how something as simple as a well-made coffee can help calm the mind and offer a moment of peace after unpacking heavy emotions. For me, the favorite coffee shop in northern New Jersey, Rutherford Coffee, has become more than just a place for caffeine; it’s a sanctuary where I can reset. I usually order an iced latte with caramel, light ice, and oat milk, which feels indulgent without being overwhelming. Pairing this with a slice of tres leches cake turns the moment into a small celebration of resilience. What stands out most during therapy is the raw honesty of pouring out your heart, and the subtle humor in recognizing that therapists get paid to listen to our oversharing. It’s comforting to remind myself and others that emotions are valid, even when life outside may be chaotic or difficult. Therapy isn’t just about confronting struggles; it’s about acknowledging them and then taking steps to nurture yourself. If you’re also someone who finds therapy sessions draining but healing, I highly recommend identifying little rituals post-session to care for yourself — whether it’s coffee runs, a favorite snack, or a quick walk. And remember, if anxiety or sadness feels overwhelming, seeking help is brave and important. Self-care is an ongoing journey, and coffee runs might just be one meaningful stop along the way.
