From my experience, it's not just about the physical aspect of carrying a child for someone else; it deeply intertwines with who you are emotionally and socially. After years dedicated to surrogacy, I found that my sense of self had become closely linked to pregnancy and the hope of helping others start families. However, when I’m not carrying, my focus shifts entirely to being a mother to my three kids and managing a full-time workload. This transition can feel like stepping into a fog where the usual excitement and constant updates about pregnancy pause, leaving space for life’s everyday chaos. It’s perfectly normal to experience pauses in identity and purpose during these breaks. Accepting that it’s okay to be 'in a break' or to feel a little lost helps restore balance and peace of mind. Surrogacy, motherhood, and work each demand different energies, and juggling all three can sometimes feel overwhelming but equally rewarding. Through this, I’ve learned the importance of self-compassion and patience. It’s essential to embrace every stage of life, whether you’re in the thick of pregnancy or simply navigating daily family routines. Additionally, sharing these updates creates a supportive community where others can relate and feel less isolated. Whether you’re a fellow gestational carrier, a mother balancing multiple roles, or someone exploring surrogacy, know that your experience is valid. Life’s identity shifts can be challenging, but they are also proof of growth and resilience. Taking time for simple self-care, like going for a tanning session or a quiet moment, reminds me that staying connected to myself is just as important as caring for others. This journey, filled with ups and downs, is a beautiful testament to the strength found in embracing each unique chapter of life.
