ที่มาของลายอาร์ค DLMO

Etched In Memory With DLMO-2 ย้อนกลับไปช่วงที่เพิ่งเริ่มทำ Denim Essence ความคิดเรื่อง "ลายอาร์ค" (Arcuate) เคยแวบเข้ามาในหัวผมครับ ตอนนั้นได้แต่นั่งคิดวนเวียนอยู่ 2-3 วัน ว่าถ้าวันนึงมีกางเกงยีนส์เป็นของตัวเอง ลายกระเป๋าหลังมันควรจะหน้าตาเป็นแบบไหน... แต่สุดท้ายก็ต้องพับความคิดนั้นเก็บเข้าสมองส่วนลึกไปก่อน เพราะคิดว่าคงยังไม่ได้ใช้เร็วๆ นี้แน่

จนกระทั่งการเดินทางพาผมมาถึงแบรนด์ DLMO สารภาพตามตรงว่าไม่คิดเลยครับว่าจะต้องมาลุยออกแบบลายอาร์คอย่างจริงจังเร็วขนาดนี้

ในรูปที่คุณเห็นคือดีไซน์เวอร์ชั่นที่ 2 ครับ ก่อนหน้านี้ผมร่างแบบแรกง่ายๆ ด้วยการตวัดลายมือเป็นตัวเขียนภาษาอังกฤษคำว่า "DL" แต่พอมานั่งมองดีๆ ก็ตระหนักรู้ได้ว่า... ลายอาร์คที่แท้จริง มันควรจะเป็น "สัญลักษณ์" ที่สะท้อนตัวตนของแบรนด์ หรือบ่งบอกถึง "มาสคอต" ประจำแบรนด์ มากกว่าแค่ตัวอักษรย่อธรรมดาๆ สองตัว

ผมเลยรื้อแบบใหม่! กลับไปตั้งต้นที่คำถามว่า "มาสคอตของเราคือตัวอะไร?" จับเอาทุกองค์ประกอบ ทุกรายละเอียดมารวมกันเป็นรูปเป็นร่าง จนออกมาเป็นลายเส้นอย่างที่เห็น

เชื่อไหมครับ? วันแรกที่ดีไซน์เสร็จ ผมลองส่งให้พาร์ทเนอร์ดู เขายังมองไม่ออกเลย 555+ จนผมต้องอธิบายคอนเซปต์ อธิบายองค์ประกอบแต่ละตำแหน่งให้ฟัง ถึง อ๋อ ขึ้นมาทันที

มาถึงตรงนี้... มีใครมองภาพนี้แล้วรู้บ้างว่ามันคือลายอะไร?

ถ้าคุณแกะรอยความคิดผมจากเส้นสายพวกนี้ได้... เท่ากับว่าคุณรู้ว่า "มาสคอต" ของผมคือตัวอะไร!

Etched In Memory With DLMO-2 Looking back to when I first started Denim Essence, the thought of designing an "Arcuate" (back pocket stitching) briefly crossed my mind. I spent a few days pondering what the back pockets would look like if I ever had my own denim brand... but eventually, I had to put that thought on the back burner, figuring I wouldn't need it anytime soon.

Fast forward to this journey with the DLMO brand. I'll be honest, I never expected to be seriously designing an arcuate this early on!

What you see in the photo is version 2. Previously, I did a simple first draft using cursive handwriting for the letters "DL". But upon closer inspection, I realized... a true arcuate should be a "symbol" that reflects the brand's identity or represents our "mascot," rather than just two ordinary initials.

So, I scrapped it and started over! I went back to square one with the question: "What is our mascot?" I took every element and detail and put them together to form the lines you see here.

Believe it or not, the first day I finished the design, I showed it to my partner, and he couldn't even figure it out! 555+ It wasn't until I explained the concept and the placement of each element that it finally clicked for him.

So here we are... can anyone look at this picture and tell what the design is?

If you can decode my thought process from these lines... it means you know what my "mascot" is!
