Time to eat!

This is a pretty cut and dry post. My kids are picky and I only hope one day they'll grow out of it. I introduce them to new foods but I never force them to eat something they don't want. eating out is redundant and hard, but we make it work. Sometimes I stress myself out with trying to make them these aesthetic meals that they only take two bites out of. Then when I take a step back and just provide them with the things they love, they leave the table happy and full!

Side note: I already said my kids are picky so I don't need comments about what they eat. They had a very healthy variety of food offered to them when they were smaller that they ate. For some reason once they reach 2 it changes.

... Read moreFrom my experience as a parent dealing with picky eaters, I've learned that flexibility and patience are key to making mealtimes less stressful and more enjoyable for both kids and parents. One important lesson is to let go of the idea that every meal needs to be picture-perfect or gourmet. Instead, focus on creating meals that your children actually like and feel comfortable eating—even if those meals are simple or repetitive. Using familiar ingredients like chicken nuggets, mini corn dogs, shredded cheese, mandarin oranges, and convenient items such as Rainbow Goldfish crackers often helps make meals more appealing to toddlers and young children. In fact, combining these favorites with a small new food item can sometimes encourage kids to try something different without feeling pressured. I also found that involving kids in meal preparation increases their interest in food. Simple tasks like letting them help arrange cheese slices or pick fruit can give them a sense of control and ownership over their meals. Eating out can be challenging with picky eaters, so planning ahead with portable snacks or opting for kid-friendly menu items minimizes frustration. Remember, the goal is to foster positive associations with food and mealtimes. Lastly, it's important to recognize that many children naturally go through phases of food preferences and changes around the age of two, as mentioned from personal observation. Remaining consistent with offering a variety of healthy options without forcing them to eat is a balanced approach that avoids power struggles. Overall, successful feeding of picky toddlers and children comes down to patience, understanding, and celebrating small victories—like when they nibble on a new food or happily eat their favorites without fuss.
