One of my favorite ways to travel is through food, and today we visited Catracita Yucateca for #ILoveTenderloinWeek felt like a trip to both Honduras and Yucatán without leaving San Francisco 🇭🇳🇲🇽✨
Here are a few of my favorites:
🌽 Tamales Colados & Toleado - Soft, silky tamales wrapped in banana leaves with flavorful, seasoned beef and chicken
🥟 Beef & Jamón con Queso Empanada – Crispy on the outside with savory fillings that make the perfect appetizer.
🍗 Pollo Frito con Tajadas – Crispy fried chicken served with tajadas, cabbage slaw, and sauce. A Honduran classic.
🥩🍤 Carne con Camarones – Tender steak topped with juicy shrimp in a rich, flavorful sauce.
Which dish would you order first?👇

Visiting Catracita Yucateca truly felt like an immersive cultural experience. The vibrant flavors and traditional preparation methods brought a genuine taste of both Honduran and Yucatán cuisines right to the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin district. I particularly loved the Tamales Colados & Toleado — the softness of the tamale combined with the seasoned beef and chicken wrapped in banana leaves creates a comforting yet flavorful bite that lingers pleasantly. The Empanadas filled with Beef & Jamón con Queso struck the perfect balance between crispy exterior and savory, melty filling. It's an ideal starter to share with friends or to enjoy as a quick snack. What really stood out for me was the Pollo Frito con Tajadas; the crispy fried chicken paired with sweet plantain slices (tajadas), crunchy cabbage slaw, and a tangy sauce elevated a classic Honduran dish into something memorable and unique. For those who love seafood and meat combined, the Carne con Camarones—tender steak smothered in a rich sauce topped with shrimp—is an indulgent option that satisfies both cravings in one plate. This blend showcases how Yucatán cuisine masterfully marries ingredients to create depth and complexity. If you're exploring food spots in San Francisco during #ILoveTenderloinWeek, Catracita provides a hidden gem where you can enjoy authentic flavors, vibrant atmospheres, and a sense of travel through taste without stepping on a plane. I recommend trying a bit of everything to experience the variety and richness that Honduran and Yucatán cuisines offer. Plus, the welcoming environment and friendly staff add an extra layer of enjoyment to your visit. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this place is sure to delight any food enthusiast looking for authentic Central American and Mexican flavors.
