5 weeks out- My first NPC Bodybuilding Show

Five weeks out, and life is not slowing down. Between booking hotels, hair, makeup, lashes, waxing, handling family responsibilities, caring for my husband, my three kids, and my 76-year-old father—and navigating loss—there’s barely a moment to breathe. And yet, I still show up. I still train. I still fuel my body. Because discipline doesn’t wait for life to slow down.

This journey isn’t easy, but I never expected it to be. I chose this path because I wanted to see what I was truly capable of. And as hard as it gets, I’m grateful—for my health, for my body’s strength, for the safe spaces I have to process everything, and for you all who continue to support and watch this journey unfold.

I’ve worked this hard to build a physique I’m proud of, and it’s only going to get better. Stay locked in with me—because I will finish what I started.

The discipline to stay committed is crucial, as it helps build not only a strong physique but also resilience in life’s unpredictability. Many competitors often turn to coaching and support networks, whether online or local, which play a significant role in motivation. Platforms such as Lemon8 enable us to share our progress and connect with others on similar journeys, fostering community support. Nutrition is equally critical in this phase, with many opting for high-protein diets that help promote muscle growth while shedding excess fat. Balancing macros and meal prepping becomes second nature, ensuring that each meal aligns with the competition goals. These practices reinforce discipline, a core component that transcends bodybuilding and influences overall life management. Lastly, mindfulness and self-care through routines such as yoga or meditation can mitigate stress and keep us on track mentally. As we approach show day, it's essential to remind ourselves why we started this journey and to celebrate the progress made, both physically and mentally.
