Worm Farming For Beginners | Cocoon Nursery
Worm farming for beginners! This is a red wiggler cocoon nursery that I started with 30 cocoons. I’m lightly digging through here to see if any worms hatched. Cocoon nurseries are pretty low maintenance. You want to keep them warm, cozy, and undisturbed to encourage them to hatch. #vermicompos

Worm Farming For Beginners | Big Tote Worm Farm
Worm farming for beginners! This is a check in on my big tote worm farm. I have thousands of red wigglers in here (mostly babies) and they finished off a huge feeding. Over time they are supposed to migrate over so it’ll make the castings a lot easier to harvest in the future. Here’s another big fe

Worm Farming For Beginners | European Nightcrawler
Worm farming for beginners! This is a check in on my European nightcrawlers bin. Using precompost can give you a very fast turnaround for worm castings. These worms are reproducing and they seem very active. It smells very earthy, and the moisture level is balanced. This is what a normal worm bin c

Worm Farming For Beginners | European Nightcrawler
Worm farming for beginners! This is a check in on my European nightcrawlers bin. I set up a brand new bin almost 3 weeks ago and I’m already seeing so many worm castings and lots of cocoons. There are a few things I do during a check in. I like to fluff up the bedding and reintroduce oxygen back in

Worm Farming For Beginners | New Favorite Worm Bed
Worm farming for beginners! I talk a lot about using precompost or biologically active bedding. This helps your worms adjust so much better since they will immediately have microbes to eat. I’ve been experimenting with this Reencle electric composter, and it “slow cooks” the food scraps down with

Where Do You Get Worms? | Worm Farming
Worm farming for beginners! Where do you even get worms to begin with? I talk about the 4 ways I most often see. 1. Find them in the wild 2. Local worm farmer 3. Buy online 4. Bait shop (hit and miss with survival) There’s no wrong way to do it, but I recommend getting an initial worm order

How To Use LECA For Plants
How to use LECA (lightweight expanded clay aggregate) for plants. This is the no drainage method, and I think it’s so pretty! LECA works through capillary action, so it’ll wick up water to the roots. Always use fertilizer if you are going to use LECA. #plantcaretips #plantcare #planttip

Worm Farming For Beginners | Dollar Tree Bin Feed
Worm farming for beginners! I went to the dollar tree and started this shoebox bin for less than 5 bucks. The set up itself doesn’t have to be expensive. I added about a 4oz starter colony and I have not fed it any real food scraps for over a month. I’ve only been doing pinches of worm chow. It sho

Fungus gnat treatment! Fungus gnats are one of the most annoying pests out there, and they target plants and worm farms especially because of all of the moist organic matter. Their life cycle is 3-4 weeks, and if you don’t break it they will continue to come back over and over again. Be consistent

Worm Farming For Beginners | Big & Small Cocoons
Worm farming for beginners! Cocoons can be big and small, and it all depends on the size of the worm that laid it. I like to fatten up my breeder worms so they make bigger cocoons. This makes them easier to spot! All cocoons are great, but some are just very hard to see. #vermicompost #verm

Worm Farming For Beginners | Fast and Slow Foods
Worm farming for beginners! When you feed food scraps, the smaller or more blended they are the faster they’ll get processed. Skins and pits especially take a lot longer, but they do eventually break down. Just keep breaking them up when you fluff up your bin and it helps the breakdown process!
