Chives are a popular herb known for their delicate flavor and ease of growth. To ensure optimal growth, it's critical to provide them with adequate sunlight—aim for about 6 hours of direct sun each day. If growth has slowed, consider checking the soil moisture; overwatering or underwatering can hinder plant development. Generally, watering every other day is appropriate, but monitor the soil's moisture level to find the right balance. Also, consider fertilizing your chives every few weeks with a balanced fertilizer to give them an extra nutrient boost. Chives can typically be harvested starting from about three weeks after planting, but wait until they reach about 6 inches tall for the best flavor. While trimming the leaves, always cut them near the base to encourage new growth. By maintaining proper care, you can enjoy a bountiful supply of chives for seasoning your meals!
