Self-care can look like not doomscrolling, like stopping looking at social media for a while. I don't think that we are built to take in that much bad news all the time, especially when there is a lot happening in the world that's hard, and we all already have our own trauma and our own issues and things we're dealing with. It's okay to take a break, it's okay to take care of ourselves and our mental health, put down the phone for a while and do something else that feels good - read a book, talk to a friend, laugh, play a game, do something creative, do whatever it is that helps fill our souls. I hope that you're able to do that. #mentalhealth #selfcare
In today’s fast-paced online world, I realized just how overwhelming absorbing constant negative news can be. Many of us carry personal challenges and trauma, and adding nonstop bad news from social media can deepen stress and anxiety. Taking intentional breaks by putting our phones down really helps. I started replacing scrolling time with activities that nourish the soul like reading my favorite book or calling a close friend. Sometimes playing a lighthearted game or just laughing with others brings much-needed relief. Creativity also plays a big role in my self-care routine. Whether writing, drawing, or simply daydreaming, it shifts the mind away from negativity and fills me with peace. Remember, it’s perfectly fine to prioritize your mental health and take breaks without guilt. Doing so doesn’t mean you are ignoring issues but giving yourself strength to better handle them. Small steps like these have made a huge difference in how I cope with everyday stress and global hardships. I encourage everyone feeling overwhelmed by today’s world to explore what activities help them recharge and to confidently create regular moments of self-care. Your mental health matters deeply.
