Tank Upgrade

I'm thinking of adding some Anubias, Java Fern, and maybe even a few Cryptocoryne plants to create a dense, naturalistic scape. It’s all about layering and creating lots of visual interest, just like you'd see in a natural riverbed with decorative rocks and driftwood. This helps break up the line of sight and gives your Betta places to explore and rest. Creating a truly enriching environment for your Betta goes beyond just size. Think about the details: a gentle filter that won't buffet their long fins, a heater to keep the water consistently warm (around 78-80°F), and plenty of smooth decorations. The shelf above my tank, with its potted plants, including cacti and succulents, creates a beautiful, cohesive look, blending the aquarium into my home decor and adding to the overall 'lush environment' feel. Even if you're not going for a specific 'theme,' focusing on natural elements and providing ample space for your fish to thrive is key. It's about providing the best quality of life for your finned friend, making their home a peaceful retreat for them, and a joy to behold for you. The whole process of upgrading, from cycling the new tank to carefully transferring Finny, was a labor of love. I made sure to use some established filter media to help kickstart the nitrogen cycle in the new 20-gallon setup, minimizing stress for Finny.
