Every writer has their quirks. Some people swear by strict schedules, color-coded planners, or hitting a perfect word count every day.
Me? I survive on rituals that look like chaos but somehow keep the words flowing.
🎶 Music first. It has to be instrumental or I’ll end up writing Taylor Swift lyrics into my murder scenes. It streams through noise-cancelling headphones, blasts from my office speakers, or (when I’m working out of my “mobile office”) fills the van while my kids are at practice.
☕ Then coffee. Hot, iced, blended… doesn’t matter. My love language is caffeine, and at this point, coffee is basically a co-author.
🐾 Finally, the pets. My cat takes his role as “editor” very seriously (which usually means laying on the keyboard). And when he’s too busy ignoring me, my dogs step in with the occasional reminder that “walkies” count as mandatory mental health breaks.
