Passenger Princess Duties: Snack Testing ✨

⭐️ Nerds Gummy Cluster 10/10

Nerds coating with the soft, chewy gummy centre is the perfect sweet + sour combi. But I must say dangerously addictive - once you start, it’s so hard to stop! 😭

🧀 Bluebird CheeseFlavoured Chips – 5/10

🍔 Bluebird FullyLoaded Full-On Burger Chips - 5/10

Not a huge fan of the Bluebird chips. The chips themselves are nice and crispy, but the seasoning probably isn't for me. Given it’s a New Zealand classic, it’s an iconic snack worth trying once – just to see what all the hype is about!

🔥 Copper Kettle Wood Fired BBQChips – 8.5/10

🍯 Copper Kettle HoneySoy Chicken Chips – 10/10

My favourite chips of the trip! Thick-cut with an extra satisfying crunch, the Honey Soy Chicken flavour perfectly balances sweet honey with savoury soy. Compared to the Wood Fired BBQ, this flavour feels much more unique, making it an easy winner for me. I'd happily pick this one again and again.

🍪 Cookie Time Triple Chocolate Chunk – 9/10

A must-try if you love chocolate! The cookie is soft and chewy with generous chunks of chocolate throughout, making every bite rich and indulgent. It's sweet without being overwhelming, and pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee or as a road trip treat. Love it!

New Zealand Milk Taste Test

🐄 Windy Ridge Fresh Milk – 9.5/10

As someone who doesn't usually drink fresh milk, this completely changed my mind. It's incredibly fresh, rich, and creamy without being too heavy, with a natural sweetness that makes it so easy to drink. No strong "milky" aftertaste—just smooth, delicious milk.

🍫 Puhoi Real Chocolate Milk – 9/10

Rich and chocolatey without being overly sweet. It tastes more like real cocoa than artificial chocolate milk, making it a delicious treat on the go. Perfect if you're craving something indulgent.

🥛The Natural Dairy Fresh Milk – 4/10

This one wasn't really for me. While it tasted fresh and had a smooth texture, I found the milk flavour a little too strong compared to Windy Ridge. I probably wouldn't repurchase this one.

... Read moreDuring my recent road trip across New Zealand, I took on the fun and tasty challenge of testing some quintessential local snacks and dairy products, turning my passenger seat duties into a full-on snack evaluation mission. It's fascinating how much variety and flavor are packed into these iconic treats, each with their own distinct profile and fanbase. What struck me about the Copper Kettle chips was how they stand apart in both texture and flavor. The thick-cut style gave each bite an extra satisfying crunch, which, combined with natural ingredients like manuka honey in the Honey Soy Chicken flavor, created a unique taste experience. This particular chip wasn’t just a snack but a memorable highlight of the trip. If you love sweet and savory combos, this flavor truly delivers. On the other hand, Bluebird chips, despite being a New Zealand classic, turned out to be a bit polarizing for me. Crispy and well-made as they are, some flavors like Cheese and FullyLoaded Burger didn’t resonate with my palette, possibly due to seasoning choices. Still, I’d recommend trying them at least once to see why these chips have a local cult following. The candy pick, Nerds Gummy Clusters, was a delightful surprise. The balance of sour and sweet combined with chewy and crunchy textures made it dangerously addictive. It reminded me of sweet childhood treats but with a modern twist. Moving on to the dairy side, tasting fresh milk varieties was an unexpectedly eye-opening experience. Windy Ridge fresh milk stood out as exceptionally creamy and smooth without that overpowering 'milky' aftertaste you sometimes find in fresh milk. For those who rarely drink milk, it can be an inviting option, especially when you want natural sweetness and freshness in one glass. Chocolate milk lovers should definitely give Puhoi Real Chocolate Milk a try. It struck the perfect balance between rich cocoa flavor and mellow sweetness, making it a fantastic treat for the road. Trying these snacks and milk varieties personally gave me a deeper appreciation of New Zealand's culinary quirks and highlights. Whether you’re planning a trip or just curious about NZ flavors, these taste tests can guide you to some tasty souvenirs or just a great snack time on your travels. #NZsnacks #NZroadtrip #NewZealand #LocalSnacks #TasteTest
